Requirements

Duties:

• Erect and maintain steel, wood or concrete poles, towers and guy wires
• Install, maintain and repair overhead and underground power lines and cables, insulators, conductors, lightning arrestors, switches and transformers.
• Splice, solder and insulate conductors and related wiring to connect power distribution and transmission networks
• Working from helicopter to perform conductor/ fibre tie-in activities, hanging insulators and travelers Installing and detonating implodes.
• Completing high-tension stringing activities -Please add activities
• Operating various models of TL Pullers and Hard Line Trailers (Timberland, Sherman Riley, Zeck etc.)
• Understanding of Basics of TL pullers maintenance system.
• Experience in Stringing works on voltages of 138 kV to 735kV, single or multi bundles,
• Electrical awareness -Working in vicinity of energized lines.
• Equipotential zones / grounding and bonding.
• Rigging Competency.
• including installation of Implo and compression sleeves, installation of conductor/OHSW/OPGW slugs, pulling of conductors/OHSW/OPGW, let-up procedures, gripping etc.
• Experience in operating various models of TL Tensioners (Timberland, Sherman Riley, Tesmec etc.) for the period of at least of one year.
• Experience in operating Puller/Tensioners, Rope Fly stands, Reel Trailers.
• Understanding of Basics of TL equipment maintenance systems.
• Experience in Stringing works on voltages of 138 kV to 735kV, single or multi bundles for the period of at least of one year, including installation of Implo and compression sleeves, installation of conductor/OHSW/OPGW slugs, pulling of conductors/OHSW/OPGW, let-up procedures, gripping etc.
• Experience in handling of heavy conductor reels.
• Fall Arrest Training
• Electrical awareness -Working in vicinity of energized lines
• Equipotential zones / grounding and bonding
• Rigging Competency
• The ability to work at heights on wood poles, steel towers, etc. in adverse weather conditions.

Experience:

• Journeyman Powerline Technician certificate
• Class 1 License is an asset
• Transmission Experience

Skills and Attributes:

• Good physical coordination, manual dexterity, lift 50lbs
• Mechanical ability
• Good hearing and color vision
• Ability to work at heights and in varying extreme climates
• Ability to travel to the USA on rotation

Project Information:

• Description: ~ 200 miles of 500kV on steel lattice
• Scope: Assembly, erection, and stringing
• Location: Southwestern Wyoming and Northwestern Colorado
• Duration: Seasonal work through the end of 2023
• Accommodations: Rawlins, WY and Craig, CO
• Details: Rotation will be 20x8, 20x10 (or similar) and Valard will provide travel, hotel accommodations, and LOA
