The Logistics Manager will oversee and manage transportation procedures and shipments, including rail, truck, barge, international, and ALTIVIA Transport our wholly-owned trucking fleet. This position will be located in Houston, TX, and report to the Supply Chain Director.

Job Responsibilities and Organization:

  • Implement best practices based on industry insight, leverage freight markets and timing in commercial activities
  • Coordinate closely with manufacturing facilities and customer service representatives for seamless execution
  • Standardize logistics processes across ALTIVIA businesses and between modes where possible
  • Maximize service level and utilization for ALTIVIA Transport, monitor expenses and spend
  • Analyze costs, recommend improvements, and align/coordinate customer charges for freight expense
  • Support costing and feasibility assessment for domestic and international freight lanes and all possible customer freight terms and supply models
  • Manage ALTIVIA fleet and all logistics assets; assess lease/own fractions and manage maintenance and requalification activities
  • Lead compliance efforts and set up sustainable processes to ensure compliant fleet management and shipping
  • Develop and manage KPIs, support analytics and data management to assess and improve logistics performance
  • Negotiate and administer contracts with rail and barge suppliers; steward service level and ensure cost control
  • Negotiate rates and service level with road carriers and freight forwarders
  • Lead transportation product stewardship program to ensure zero-incident and high-quality loading, transport, and offload
  • Located in Houston, TX; reports to Supply Chain Director
  • Tracking commitments and approvals, managing the sequence of activities

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in supply chain, logistics, or business preferred
  • Previous logistics experience preferred
  • Computer proficiency and efficient quantity and quality of work product
  • Excel proficiency and general arithmetic/numeracy
  • Proactive and clear communication
  • Attention to detail, thoroughness, and organization
