As a Manufacturing Operations Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading day to day Manufacturing Operations of our Low Volume Pilot Line in our Burlington, VT headquarters, including touch labor, test technicians, logistics, and material handling. You will collaborate regularly with engineering for troubleshooting and design support, support process development, and optimization, and manage manufacturing supply ordering processes. You will initially be responsible for supporting our Mobility vertical through delivery of Alpha, Beta, and Low Volume initial production of our first generation Lift Truck Chargers, and later for supporting future new product introduction and transition to production efforts across all business verticals and product lines as needed.

On an average day, youll..

  • Manage day to day manufacturing operations, focused on achieving weekly production targets & maintaining a safe working environment
  • Hire and train production staff
  • Ensure production staff have the tools and support they need to execute against weekly production targets
  • Serve as the first line of escalation for manufacturing line process issues and troubleshooting, and partner with appropriate support resources to resolve problems
  • Monitor and report on manufacturing cost and quality against established targets; Drive resolution of manufacturing attributable cost and quality issues, and collaborate with engineering, supply chain, product, and program to resolve broader cost & quality issues
  • Oversee inbound receiving and stocking of component and WIP inventory, and manufacturing line material presentation
  • Coordinate and oversee finished goods logistics, including pack out, storage, staging, and shipping
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure signals are sent to procurement for order placement to maintain safety stock
  • Improve and optimize manufacturing processes for safety, cost, and schedule
  • Provide feedback to engineering about difficult manufacturing and assembly processes as a part of Design For X (DfX) activities
  • Support new product introduction and transition to production efforts

Requirements

  • Experience leading direct touch labor in a manufacturing, final assembly & test, or warehousing and distribution environment, either though direct people management or project based leadership roles
  • Experience working with electrical, mechanical, or electo-mechanical sub-assembly or assembly processes
  • Demonstrated safety focused behaviors
  • Familiarity with basic manufacturing principals, processes, and tools, including mechanical and electromechanical assembly & test processes, process capability, first pass yield, line balancing, process documentation, manufacturing data collection, and quality management systems (QMS)
  • Experience with logistics & material handling processes and best practices
  • Experience with manufacturing process development and/or execution
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Bonus:

  • Experience in power electronics and/or magnetics manufacturing processes.
  • Tooling, fixture, or assembly aide design
  • Experience with or exposure to demand planning & inventory management processes
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP & PLM tools
  • Lean Six Sigma experience, green belt/yellow belt preferred but not required
  • Experience with test troubleshooting and disposition of non-conformances
  • Project management experience
