The primary responsibility of this position is to help drive revenue for the Valero Texas Open an annual PGA TOUR event through the creation and commercialization of comprehensive sponsorship packages and the cultivation of new and existing partnerships. Based in San Antonio, Texas, this position will also be involved in the fulfillment and client activation process once the sale is confirmed. Additionally, this position may assist with the execution and sponsorship sales of other out-of-market Wasserman Events projects, as needed.

Duties:

  • Work with Executive Director and Sales team to create and develop product concepts and price points
  • Collaborate with Operations team to conduct cost analysis of sponsor products and deliver proper margin
  • Ability to identify potential sponsors, create connection points and make cold calls
  • Promote the benefit of sponsorship of the Valero Texas Open to a broad range of prospects across industries
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking skills to advance the sales process in a productive way
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with corporate contacts on a national, regional and local level
  • Manage entire sales process for respective clients prospecting, presentation, negotiation, contract, activation/fulfillment, invoicing, follow-up, renewal
  • In coordination with Valero, develop relationships with Valero business partners and facilitate the sale of the Valero Benefit for Children sponsorship packages in conjunction with the Valero Texas Open
  • Assist in the development and execution of an overall sales strategy each year of the Valero Texas Open sales cycle, renewal incentives, target industries, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with the Sales and Marketing teams on the development and creation of sales collateral brochures, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
  • In conjunction with other team members, develop and execute sales/prospecting events, trade show opportunities, etc.
  • Support of other Wasserman projects and events (varying roles), as assigned
  • Travel (domestic and/or international) throughout the year as needed
  • Work on holidays and weekends as assigned

Requirements

  • Individual must possess strong internal drive, a positive attitude and be able to manage a fast-paced work environment through effective time management and prioritization
  • Proven track record of revenue generation and growth while delivering exceptional customer service
  • Must be able to meet (and hopefully exceed) established sales goals on an annual basis
  • Must have a minimum of a bachelors degree in Sports Management, Business, Communications, Marketing or other related fields
  • Proficient in software packages: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); CRM software (Zoho, Sales Force, HubSpot, etc.); Social Media (LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook); Adobe (Acrobat, Photoshop is a plus)
  • Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills
  • Ability to speak/write Spanish is a plus
