We have a great team of material engineers, textile engineers, chemical engineers and mechanical engineers. We also have a great group of technicians with years of experience. We are looking to add someone to our group that likes to work with their hands and think through difficult mechanical problems. Our applications require custom design and build of equipment to carry out new work functions. This role will include help in developing the equipment and products produced on the equipment. We need someone who is excited to solve challenging problems in a team environment.

Job Description:

R&D Technician will participate in product development projects from ideation through scale up and start up. Participate in R&D projects, support re-design activities, and investigate new methods for textile innovation. This function is hands on working with equipment and prototyping new products.

Duties and Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Works with R&D Department on prototyping new product initiatives.
  • Conducts developmental tests for new and/or modified products or product components.
  • Confers with engineering and other technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or equipment issues, malfunctions, incomplete test data and interpretation. Communicate with other shifts concerning problem looms.
  • Adjusting/repairing/changing essential machine components
  • Support product development and existing products through material and performance characterization and trials at bench, pilot, and commercial stages.
  • Prepares equipment for changes.
  • Help establish best practices for machine settings.
  • Possess excellent knowledge of not only specific machines but of weaving skills as well.
  • Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly and safe manner to include returning tools to designated areas.

Requirements

  • Fundamental understanding of different yarns (Preferred but not required).
  • Fundamental understanding of weaving machine, process, and operations(Preferred but not required).
  • Fundamental understanding of geometry and the ability to think readily in 3 dimensions
