POSITION SUMMARY

The Training Facilitator is responsible for planning and facilitating classes for the Training Program at TRAC. These classes include but are not limited to: the Preparation for Adult Living (PAL) Life Skills program. He/she will work closely with the TRAC Training Team to conduct needs assessments of local youth and schedule training classes based on these needs. He/she will facilitate classes and assist youth with their individual training and development needs. The Training Facilitator will complete assessments and reports on each class participant and ensure this information is recorded accurately. He/she will work closely with staff members to evaluate curriculums, acquire resources, and make improvements to the training program. He/she will fulfill paperwork duties and data entry in compliance with policy and contract expectations.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelors Degree required; degree in social work, or Secondary Education or Special Education. (unless requirement is waived by CPS)

Experience: Two (2) years experience: working with Youth; knowledge of group facilitation, and experience in classroom training; experience with youth who are at-risk, in foster care or who have been neglected or abused is preferred.

Additional Requirements: Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Must be able to work flexible hours and travel as requested. Must have valid drivers license, proof of vehicle liability insurance and reliable transportation. Must be able to disclose and verify driving record, criminal history, and child abuse/neglect history.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the TRAC Training Team to conduct needs assessments and schedule training classes.
  • Facilitate training classes, this includes but is not limited to Preparation for Adult Living (PAL) Curriculum.
  • Assist students with their individual training and development needs.
  • Prepare for each class by studying the training materials and methodologies.
  • Provide the TRAC Training Team with feedback and input on curriculums.
  • Assist with class preparation; this includes locating sites, preparing invitations, preparing supplies and materials, preparing snacks and meals, among other responsibilities.
  • Provide outreach to referred individuals for training services include classes, assessments, and debriefs.
  • Set up and break down each class. Arrive at least 30 minutes early for each class in order to greet participants, remain until the last participant has been picked up.
  • Ensure that all required assessments and evaluations are completed by each participant.
  • Complete and submit reports on each participant following each training class; create other reports and documents as requested.
  • Enter training data into the tracking system utilized by the training program.
  • Assist with scheduling guest speakers, planning graduation celebrations, and other activities.
  • Responsible for overseeing the CLSA referrals, conducting individual or group, virtual or in-person, debriefs and assigning to PRN staff for debriefs as needed. Checking the paperwork and data entry for accuracy is also required.
  • Attend weekly meetings with supervisor and discuss achievements/challenges with training program.
  • Work with staff members to acquire resources and make improvements to the training program.
  • Attend training classes for staff members in the training program as needed.
  • Be familiar with and comply with all contractual requirements.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND SPECIAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to work a 40 hour week.
  • Ability to sit for long periods, up to 8 hours.
  • Ability to use both hands in fine and gross manipulation of small tools (copier, computer, telephone).
  • Ability to push and pull up to 10 lbs. (File cabinet drawers, computer paper boxes).
  • Ability to see well enough to read handwritten and typewritten material.
  • Ability to hear and speak well enough to communicate via phone.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds dead weight to move or transfer boxes or documents.
  • Ability to retrieve files from bottom shelves/drawers and reach up for items located on top shelves.
  • Ability to reach, turn and twist above and below the waist daily to retrieve files or supplies.
  • Ability to stand and walk daily to retrieve forms/supplies for other departments.
  • Ability to spend 10% of working time outside in temperature varying from -0oF to 110oF.
  • Ability to spend 90% working time in environment of continuous moderate voices and office machine noise typical for business office atmosphere.
  • Ability to handle a variety of repetitive tasks.
