In addition to leading a regional payroll team, this leader's focus will be multi-dimensional with delivery of exceptional service experience, regional and local country expertise, high degree of partner engagement, focus on regulatory compliance and risk mitigation, operational process excellence, while embodying an innovative spirit in the idea and delivery of future impacting services and solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a best-in-class payroll team accountable for the day-to-day payroll operations and ensure activities are consistent with the Company's mission, vision and values
  • Develop and implement the payroll strategy for North America
  • Oversee the accuracy of payroll preparation and processing, payroll accounting and various special payments in the United States (multi-state) and Canada
  • Maintain a hands-on approach in administering payroll to remain current in payroll procedures
  • Ensure compliance with the prevailing laws governing payroll and the related taxes, employee benefits, garnishments, and other statutory pay and related entitlements
  • Interpret and apply complex statutory regulations, union agreements and Company policies to respond to payroll enquiries and resolve payroll related issues
  • Coordinate payroll considerations for mobile employees and expats
  • Implement process improvements to streamline processes, ensuring best practice and efficiencies
  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll management and timekeeping systems
  • Communicate professionally with Company employees and executive management on payroll issues and notifications
  • Support activities related to potential mergers and acquisitions
  • Support annual financial statement and benefit plan audits as necessary
  • Build strong cross-functional business partner relationships
  • Utilize leadership and management experience with coaching, training and developing a highly focused, productive and purpose-driven team

REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant Degree
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in a complex multi-state payroll environment
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • Experience in implementing and/or managing payroll for multi-state US and Canada
  • Knowledge of Workday's payroll application
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Develop strong working relationships throughout the organization at all levels
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Good functional understanding of core Payroll business terminology, processes and practices
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to communicate and present at all levels of the organization
  • Must be able to effectively manage changes and support impacted areas of the business
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic work environment

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for supervising, managing the work of and developing the 3 5 Payroll Processors
