Preconstruction Engineer/Estimator

CS Energy is hiring a Preconstruction Engineer - Estimator. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading engineering, procurement, and construction firm that specializes in solar, energy storage, and emerging energy industries. This is a key role within CS Energys rapidly growing, fast-paced, and very dynamic Energy Storage team. The Ideal candidate will be a cost expert and responsible for estimating highly profitable and constructible Energy Storage projects. The Estimator will lead reviewing project technical documents, coordinate with subcontractors, and descope subcontractors proposals to develop pricing strategies that help maximize our pricing strategy goals.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Thoroughly investigates the specifications, scope of work, civil, electrical, and structural drawings, other RFP documents and develops a complete understanding of the RFP requirements.
    • Accurately and timely performs takeoffs and calculations and analyzes data.
    • Draft scope of work for electrical and civil subcontractors and analyzes their proposals.
    • Drafts bid proposals per RFP specifications with detailed pricing and clarifications.
    • Conducts field visits to gather relevant data on project site conditions, verify production rates and learn new construction techniques.
    • Attends quarterly cost-to-complete meetings for current projects and incorporates lessons learned in future bids.
    • Coordinates with Business Development, Engineering and Operations teams to produce the most competitive bid proposal.

Requirements

    • A minimum of 2 years of construction experience
    • Bachelors degree in engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or minimum 5 years of relevant construction industry experience. Energy industry experience preferred but not required
    • Proficient in understanding electrical plans and project specifications
    • Excellent teamwork and people skills a must.
    • Has a solid time management system and demonstrates excellent organizational skills.
    • Proven ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
    • Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written).
    • Track record of achievement and career progression.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, Word, etc.),
    • Experience in Primavera, Microsoft Project, HCSS, Bluebeam or other takeoff software would be advantageous but not mandatory
    • Knowledge of estimating, engineering, cost tracking systems and site surveying would be valuable.
