THA is seeking a Testing Supervisor to provide safe, confidential HIV and STI testing in San Antonio and the surrounding community. This role will report to the Outreach and Testing Manager in Austin. This is a full-time, non-exempt position requiring 40 hours a week with some night and weekend hours.


What you would do:

  • Supervise and manage testing specialist staff.
  • Act as site supervisor for community mobile testing events, including but not limited to services, outreach policies, vehicle maintenance, volunteer and patient oversight.
  • Act as site supervisor for walk-in testing and treatment clinic, including but not limited to overseeing daily operations of clinic, services, site policies, staff development, and patient flow
  • Work with program staff to ensure quality patient care and services are delivered in a supportive, gender-affirming, and sex-positive environment
  • Assist program manager with oversight of day-to-day tasks related to HIV/STI testing such as chart audits and staff observations as well as monitoring inventory, coordination of testing events, training, and other related activities.
  • Provide culturally competent anonymous and confidential HIV and STI testing, risk assessment, and deliver results.
  • Educate individuals and groups about HIV and antibody testing, STI testing and treatments, & HIV and STI prevention education and counseling.
  • Assist in assessing need to refer clients to medical providers and support services, linking clients to appropriate community resources, and conducting follow-up activities.
  • Provide harm reduction counseling around drug use and sexual wellness and health
  • Utilize and promote infection control measures and universal precautions to maintain high quality of health and safety during outreach events
  • Assist program staff with data entry, quality assurance, and preparing data for grant reports.
  • Participate in special testing and outreach events in community settings, public sex environments, online, as well as other venues to reach populations of focus including: MSM, Spanish-speaking communities, communities of color, transgender and gender non-binary individuals, sex workers, individuals without a home, and persons who inject drugs to recruit into HIV and STI prevention programs, testing, and services.
  • Maintain a system of confidentiality according to clinics policies and procedures and HIPAA guidelines
  • Provide leadership, coaching, support, and training to staff
  • Participate and/ or lead in regular staff meetings, supervision meetings, and other meetings as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation

Based on job duties and requirements, this position is placed in salary band 40 with an hourly pay range of $18.61- $21.12. Initial placement within this range will be based on hired candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.

Requirements

Your previous work life and education must include:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Drivers License
  • 2+ years direct experience in HIV/STI testing
  • Strong understanding of HIV and STI prevention issues and how they affect or influence service delivery
  • Experience working successfully with ethnic, racial, economic, and sexually diverse populations.
  • Phlebotomy certification
  • Completion of Foundations of Testing and Navigation (may complete within first 3 months of hire)


Your previous work life and education ideally would include:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Experience in community health settings
  • Familiarity with grant funded testing programs
  • Familiarity and experience using a trauma-informed approach to working with individuals
  • Experience and comfort in discussing issues related to substance use, harm reduction, homelessness, mental health, gender care and LGBTQ communities
  • Previous experience with managing and training staff
  • Previous experience with volunteer recruitment, training, and management/oversight
