Summary

As Sr. Designer, you will play a key role in setting and executing Wantables private brands seasonal creative tone and direction. You will be responsible for creating designs and providing inspiration based on global market trends to identify new seasonal silhouettes, fabrics, techniques, and potential new product categories. You will partner closely with the merchant and planning teams to execute category KPIs, elevate AOV and drive take rates on all private brand product. This position reports directly to the VP Merchandising/Design/PD.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and collaborate in building seasonal design concepts, including, color palettes, print & graphic direction, trims that follow branding guidelines.
  • Create a Time & Action Calendar and roadmap for concept meetings, line reviews and final buy meetings. Own the calendar/invites.
  • Develop presentation and sketch boards for internal review meetings.
  • Research and present potential new and innovative ways of designing/developing product; ie reduce proto development cost, utilize 3D software, propose overall time/cost efficiencies.
  • Collaborate closely with the merchandising team to build seasonal recommended assortments to satisfy and support test/react strategies.
  • Partner with product development and production teams to communicate the vision behind the product design, ensuring proper execution, quality, and desired aesthetic.
  • Partner with Marketing and Stylist teams on seasonal brand aesthetic/direction. Work with stylists to better understand product pools and box mix.
  • Partner with Merchant and Planning teams to identify exclusive product opportunities and deliver margin goals.
  • Reinterpret products, bodies and construction of externally sourced garments and add to existing private brands.
  • Analyze business performance of exclusive products and present strategic next steps to minimize liabilities and maximize opportunities.
  • Monitor customer data and make recommendations for product opportunities.
  • Create detailed tech packs for production team/technical designer.
  • Review and approve fit samples and provide feedback/corrections.
  • Travel as needed to factories, markets, key vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years Design experience.
  • Proficient at sketching, creating graphics, cadding line sheets.
  • Analytic Skills: Ability to think objectively and interpret meaningful themes from sales data and customer comments.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Quality: Able to use rigorous logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions.
  • Collaboration: Able to build constructive and effective relationships with a broad and diverse group of business partners.
  • Influencing & Negotiation: Can present ideas and directions that lead others to action.
  • Presentation Skills: Effective in a variety of presentation settings including one-on-one, small and large groups, and with peers and management.
