The Security department supports memorable guest experiences by performing protective and enforcement functions to provide a safe and secure environment. The Security Officer provides service with Aloha while professionally and courteously enforcing safety rules and protocols. This position acts as first responder to emergency situations, concerning conduct and other related safety and guest service inquiries.

The role of Security Officer can provide you with:

A typical shift for the Security Officer may include the following responsibilities:

  • Fulfills first response duties for all medical emergencies that occur on property; administer first aid and initiate outside emergency response as needed.
  • Performing routine functions in property security including perimeter sweeps, walking guest floors, and locking or unlocking doors according to hours of operation.
  • Maintaining active presence throughout property to serve as visual deterrent to undesired behavior as well as being available for guest inquiries and service opportunities.
  • Operating closed circuit camera surveillance equipment and accessing video footage as necessary.
  • Prioritizing calls from internal and external customers in addressing varied emergencies, concerns, and general requests.

Requirements

The ideal candidate possesses previous Security experience, preferably in the hospitality industry with high guest interaction. Experience in a related enforcement or emergency response field is also ideal. Furthermore, the ideal candidate possesses a natural aptitude for service, an engaging personality, strong work ethic, high integrity and sound judgment.

State of Hawaii guard certification is required of this position, with licensing administered by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (Act 208). This certification must be obtained before any application can proceed to hire. First aid, CPR and AED certification is also a requirement which may fulfilled during on-boarding.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • The ability to speak, read and write proficiently in the English language.
  • The ability to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, overnight, weekends and holidays.
  • The ability to engage in considerable physical activity on a continuous basis and work in hot, humid conditions.
  • The ability to effectively multi-task to service multiple guests simultaneously and work independently with high output.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to calmly interact with both internal and external customers, some of which will require a high level of tact, patience and diplomacy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and developed writing skills to create detailed and thorough incident reports.
  • Neat and professional appearance and a genuine desire to serve and protect.
  • As a condition of employment, candidate must be able to satisfy all pre-employment screening including criminal background checks, drug screening and personal and professional references.
