As our People & Culture Coordinator, reporting to the Senior Director of People & Culture, you will be responsible for supporting all Human Resource policies and procedures. You will undertake various responsibilities overseeing the day-to-day Human Resource operations, including onboarding, employee experience, performance management, employee relations, and everything in between. As the High Line expands its vision, this is an exciting opportunity to enact strategies that will shape the future of the High Line at a pivotal point in its history.

Requirements

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate new hire orientations and offboarding process.
  • Manage onboarding in ADP and maintain new employee files, I-9 documentation, and verification.
  • Provide assistance with the recruitment process, including advertising open positions, reviewing resumes, conducting reference and background checks, and drafting offer letters.
  • Maintain up-to-date personnel information and files.
  • Work cross-departmentally with the Finance department to ensure accurate payroll and compliance, as well as special projects related to leave management.
  • Complete and submit paperwork to external agencies, including workers' compensation claims, unemployment claims, EEOC reporting, and ACA.
  • Oversee the administration, reporting, and compliance of the 403(b) retirement plans.
  • Support employee leaves management (FMLA, STD, NYPFL, workers compensation, FFCRA).
  • Conduct seasonal staff interviews.
  • Schedule meetings and various required and annual training for new hires, staff, and managers
  • Review and organize departmental invoices and credit card expenditures and submit them for processing with the Finance department.
  • Support the performance review process and benefit open enrollment.
  • Ensure notification and documentation of staff increases.
  • Act as an additional point of contact for employee benefit inquiries.
  • Assist with monitoring employee eligibility for employment benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and flexible spending).
  • Work with team on updating employee handbook annually and provide research on emerging trends for staff in nonprofit organizations.
  • Special projects as assigned


Qualifications

Desired experience of a successful candidate may include the following, but candidates will not be screened exclusively based on meeting these qualifications:
  • 2 - 3 years experience in an HR or People Ops Function.
  • Experience working with various HRIS software
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people
  • Excellent computer skills, including Google Suite, Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to set and keep regular deadlines
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional in Human Resources certification or similar
  • Experience using ADP Workforce Now
  • Familiarity with Workable or any other Applicant Tracking System

Actual salaries will vary on various factors, including but not limited to experience and performance. The hourly rate for this position is $30.50/hour.

The location for the role remains hybrid, with a requirement to physically report to the office (located in Manhattan's Meatpacking District in New York City).

This is a full-time, non-exempt, year-round role.
