Our fintech Software/Hedge Fund organization based in Charlotte and Greenwich, CT is looking for an IT Support Engineer who has demonstrated hands-on technical skills supporting customers/users, will thrive in a start-up environment, and can deliver excellent solutions at a rapid pace. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in a leading-edge SAAS product and support our quantitative, multi-manager Hedge Fund as well. The primary job responsibility will be to manage the internal help desk which includes Windows and OSX desktops, Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory, VMWare, and more. The candidate should want to grow within the organization and will be mentored in Server Administration, Infrastructure, Security, and other advanced technologies. The IT Support Engineer is responsible for delivering application and technical support to end users. They are responsible for resolving support requests and service tickets. Another part of their job is to identify, diagnose, and rectify any issues with computer hardware, software, services, and applications. Travel to data center locations in Atlanta and Ashburn, VA is also expected a few times a year as needed. Responsibilities - Working with the team from our Charlotte, NC office at least several days a week.
- Installing and configuring employee computer systems.
- Assisting with onboarding new employees.
- Responding to client IT support requests.
- Meeting with employees to diagnose software, networking, or hardware issues.
- Providing technical support on-site or via remote-access systems.
- Offering solutions that meet the needs of our employees.
- Repairing hardware malfunctions, software issues, and networking problems.
- Traveling to our Atlanta or Ashburn, VA datacenters a few times per year.
Requirements Necessary Skills - 1-5 years of experience in Information Technology
- Familiarity with general IT technologies and concepts such as Windows, Linux, VMware, IP addressing, firewalls, Active Directory, as well as desktop applications.
- Strong Troubleshooting skills
- Great Communication skills
- Proactive
- Willing to follow and institute processes
- Willing to complete thorough documentation.
- Exposure to working with Microsofts Cloud Suite: Azure, Office 365, Teams, etc.
Desired Skills - Exposure to managing or configuring servers, firewalls, networks
- Exposure to Linux
- Familiarity with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
- Familiarity with the principles of DevOps
- Advanced Technical Training or Certifications
- Familiarity with AWS and cloud best practices
