Duties

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining the information security program to ensure that information assets and associated technology, applications, systems, infrastructure, and processes are protected.
  • Provides leadership in information security policy and guidance, expert advice and collaboration with external agencies and components on matters relating to protecting the DoD OIGs information assets.
  • Develops an information security vision and strategy, including cloud security strategy that is aligned to organizational priorities and enables and facilitates the organization's business objectives, and ensures senior stakeholder buy-in.
  • Provides subject matter expertise related to cyber security to support cloud modernization efforts and adoption of optimized SecOps practices in an IT environment.
  • Develops and coordinates approval and implementation of security policies. Formulates IT security initiatives in response to emerging cyber threats. Plans and coordinates agency adherence to security operations and monitoring of DoD OIG networks.
  • Manages incident handling on the Departments networks; oversees the investigation of cyber incidents and the forensics identification of patterns used to develop signatures to defend against attacks.
  • Creates internal relationships and networks among the information security team and line-of-business executives, information governance, proactive and reactive risk management, physical security, legal and HR teams to ensure alignment.
  • Exercises supervision and control for staff of multi-disciplined administrative and technical personnel in IT disciplines. Identifies requirements and plans for, organizes, and distributes personnel resources.
