Kitchen United is a new-to-the-world multi-unit concept that meets at the intersection of three food megatrends: localization, delivery, and artisanal production. Kitchen United provides the commercial kitchen infrastructure to enable big restaurant brands to get closer to their customers, all types of restaurants to optimize their footprint for off-premise dining occasions.

Job Description:

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily kitchen operations including but not limited to: daily food production, ordering, inventory management, hiring, training, and employee retention, payroll management, scheduling, onboarding, and other duties based on business needs. Responsibilities adhere to all company standards as they relate to food safety, waste, inventory management, budget costs, and staffing. The Kitchen Manager will provide leadership and direction to all line staff within the kitchen. They will ensure that all recipes, preparations, and presentations meet company and brand specifications for quality with execution. The Kitchen Manager will report into Kitchen Uniteds Culinary Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day Kitchen United culinary operations for multiple menu concepts/brands
  • The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for leading all operations and providing overall planning, direction, and execution in the kitchen
  • The Kitchen Manager will ensure a high level of customer service is provided to all guests that order from their location by - cooking quality food and ensuring order accuracy and timeliness
  • Ensure that appropriate Maintenance, Safety, and Sanitation Standards are followed and that kitchen team strictly adheres to state and federal regulations when it comes to food storage, handling, and preparation and other safety and sanitation codes
  • Train and manage kitchen personnel and supervise all culinary activities
  • Recruits and maintains a pipeline of Kitchen team
  • Create and maintain a schedule that reflects business needs
  • Oversees performance management of the Kitchen team and collaborates with the HR Team when necessary
  • Leadership Own your P&Ls, as well as metrics for safety, quality, customer service, cost and people while ensuring a fun, rewarding, and inclusive work culture
  • Drive our culture of respect with all team members of Kitchen United.
  • Bring forth creative ways and opportunity to drive top line sales, while managing to your budget and key point metrics
  • Oversees all phases of food procurement, prep, production, service, inventory, ordering, storage and rotation, food preparation, recipe adherence, presentation and sanitation/cleanliness, and onboarding of food distributors
  • Conduct daily line checks to ensure all food product prepped for the day meets the proper prep levels for food quality assurance
  • Execute daily food service, quality, technique, portion, presentation
  • Conduct food tastings and track food used for training and team tastings.
  • Standardize production recipes to ensure consistent quality
  • Collaborate with the Operations and Finance team on expense tracking for accurate financial projections for your kitchen locations.

Administration

  • Achieve KU operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change
  • Be responsible for the talent lifecycle; work with the recruiting team for hiring, training, and retaining top talent, reducing annual turnover within your Kitchen Center.
  • Constantly build a pipeline of candidates in anticipation of succession needs, and turnover.
  • Ensure all performance reviews are undertaken in a timely manner and with thorough thought and attention.
  • Ensure that all timecards are processed on time and with accuracy. Including management of sick time, overtime, personal or medical leaves, bereavement, vacation requests etc.
  • Administer employee discipline in accordance with KUs progressive disciplinary procedures and work expectations program

Results & Operations (80%)

  • Provide ongoing training and development for internal teams
  • Coordinate and manage all activity associated to the operational objectives of each Kitchen Center
  • Lead your team members in achieving Kitchen Uniteds service standards, operating processes and standards of excellence (timely completion of orders, order accuracy, and mitigation of customer complaints as necessary).
  • Maintain a professional and accountable Kitchen Center environment at all times.
  • Builds effective relationships with all team members, restaurant partners, and corporate support partners.
  • Fosters great relationships and assists with 3rd party delivery drivers, vendors and being a key part of our operations team providing excellent support to our member partners.
  • Maintain the kitchen center facility by ensuring that all preventive maintenance services are scheduled and performed and by reacting to emergency repairs in a timely manner.
  • Delivers financial & customer metrics by monitoring member satisfaction, restaurant sales, forecasting requirements; consumer reviews; optimizing labor schedules & overtime utilization; inventory control, waste management and more.
  • Exemplifies a high standard of service that permeates across the entire team to keep kitchen members (cooks); drivers & guests happy & content with their Kitchen United experience.
  • Conduct new restaurant member on-boarding and orientation activities to aid the transition of a restaurant into a Kitchen United center. Scheduling tours, conducting new member orientations and leading the restaurant on-boarding process (including receiving signed agreements, filing of proper documentation, utility management and facility administration).
  • Maintain productive and cordial relationships with all restaurant partners and their staff. Escalating any onsite conduct issues to the appropriate parties.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; complying with local, state & federal legal regulations; developing and implementing disaster plans; maintaining security and sprinkler systems; maintaining parking lots and walkways.


Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Head Chef or Executive Kitchen Management position is preferred
  • Bilingual English / Spanish a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of managing a multi-unit operation
  • Must have schedule flexibility including - days, nights, weekends, and some holidays
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills are required
  • Ability to manage people above or below your level
  • Tolerance for a rapidly changingenvironment/missions
  • A team player with high EQ and collaborative approach to leadership
  • High intensity execution mindset, able to operate at urgency and pace
  • Promotes a healthy work environment with honesty, integrity, and respect for all employees
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, and Slides)
