Job Description

Sense is looking for a highly motivated person to join our IT team as an IT Support Technician. Our IT team works out of our office in Central Square in Cambridge, MA, and supports our employees based in Cambridge, and remote employees across the US and Canada, as well as in our UK office. We support desktop hardware and applications, the office infrastructure, as well as various third-party and custom systems used by our Manufacturing, Support, Marketing, Sales, and other teams.

As an IT Support Technician you will configure and maintain computer systems and networks aiming for the highest functionality. You will also train users on best practices and safe usage of Sense IT infrastructure. Use your knowledge of computer software, hardware, SaaS applications, networks and operating systems. To provide technical guidance and instruction to end-users and build, maintain and update Sense IT systems with a focus on scalability.

Requirements

  • Set up and provision new computers along with necessary peripherals
  • Install and configure software for employees
  • Employee SaaS account administration
  • Identify computer or network equipment shortages
  • Maintain and monitor local networks to optimize performance
  • Maintain conferencing hardware and software
  • Provide, installation, configuration and support of desktop applications
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve hardware problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.)
  • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule
  • Be on-site to offer support for employees and in-office equipment

Requirements:

  • Experience as an IT Technician or relevant position
  • Exceptional troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of initiative and self-management.
  • In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
  • Knowledge of a wide range of computer operating systems software, applications, hardware, networking, and communications
  • Working knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
  • Be on-site at our Cambridge, MA office during business hours

Nice to have:

  • Certification as IT Technician will be an advantage (e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional)
  • Familiarity with the Python programming language and bash
  • Familiarity with Linux-based operating system
  • Curious and passionate about technology and keeping up with the latest trends
