Responsibilities include:

  • Take patients' medical histories, perform workups, and perform ophthalmic diagnostic exams to obtain the information needed for diagnosis
  • Operate ophthalmic equipment
  • Sterilize instruments to maintain ophthalmic instruments or equipment.
  • Assist providers in performing ophthalmic procedures
  • Help clinical functions, such as room flow, the status of the patient, and the provider
  • Help instruct the patient in the care and treatment of eye conditions
  • Assist with applying dressings to the eye post-surgically
  • Ensure all medical records are accurate and complete
  • Triages phone calls from patients and outside contacts
  • Maintain flexibility and perform other duties as required.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Basic math skills
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office products, and strong keyboarding skills.
  • Flexibility to effectively work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated multitasking and adaptability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Professional appearance, strong interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable with communication via phone, internet, and in-person
  • Maintain and follow HIPAA procedures and policies
