This is a fully remote role for candidates who are based outside of the New York Metropolitan area. For those located in the area, we encourage you to consider our hybrid work arrangement (1-2 days a week in our NYC office). The Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems help monitor and control operations and processes for our growing fleet of distribution-level renewable energy generation and battery energy storage facilities.


The SCADA Engineers duties will focus on the design, configuration, installation, and commissioning oversight, and support of repair and maintenance for all monitoring and control equipment including, electronic sensing devices, flow computers, Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), data communications equipment and services, computer hardware, and other battery energy storage, solar and electrical protection telemetry devices.

What Youll Do

SCADA Operational Support 50%

  • Proactively measure and analyze SCADA system performance; suggesting and making improvements where applicable to maintain the health and performance of the system.
  • Ensure the SCADA system is accurately collecting, recording, and reporting diagnostic, alarm, and performance data.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve SCADA issues that arise during daily operations.
  • Work with field operations and telecom providers to support operation and upgrades of the telemetry equipment and communications infrastructure such as MPLS, CDMA, satellite, and radio.
  • Perform system maintenance and coordinate software and hardware updates within the system.
  • Provide quarterly operational reports on the status of the SCADA solution (Performance, Licensing, Roadmap, Challenges, Opportunities).

SCADA Planning & Design 25%

  • Develop and maintain a SCADA architecture and roadmap to support current and future system needs.
  • Collaborate internally and with our integrators to develop and implement procedures and SCADA controls for day-to-day and emergency operations.

SCADA Commissioning 25%

Requirements


  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline required electrical, mechanical, industrial, or computer engineering preferred
  • 5-8 years of relevant, hands-on experience managing or implementing SCADA systems, preferably within the energy industry
  • Hands-on experience with an industry-standard SCADA platform such as Clear SCADA, Ignition, PowerFactors, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with energy management systems, battery energy storage systems, and solar energy production is preferred
  • Hands on experience programming, configuring, and managing Schweitzer Engineering Labs (SEL) electrical protection equipment (recloser and feeder protection relays) and telemetering, real-time automation controllers, network equipment, modbus/dnp3 protocols, and associated management software strongly preferred.
  • A fundamental knowledge of computer security and programming is required.
  • Able to successfully assess requirements and execute the primary functions of the role with autonomy and confidence.

  • Relevant experience and confidence configuring servers, databases, remote terminal units (RTU), programmable logic controllers (PLC), real-time automation controllers (RTAC) and related equipment.
  • Direct, hands-on experience programming languages such as structured text, ladder logic, SQL, Python, and C++.
  • Must be able to analyze operational requirements in a highly logical manner and be able to recommend modifications and improvements based on a thorough knowledge of computer processes and existing electrical control system designs.
  • Analytical ability and technical skills to troubleshoot issues with field telemetry and control systems is desirable.

Base Salary Range: $105,000- $130,000; Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience.
