This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Full-time Dental Hygiene Laboratory Manager who will work under the direction under the Dental Hygiene Program Director and Clinical Coordinator and provide clinical and laboratory instruction and supervision of students in the Dental Hygiene Department at West Campus.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelors Degree.

Preferred: Master's Degree.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

Required: Graduate from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and current and unencumbered license to practice dental hygiene in Texas.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Three (3) years of recent clinical dental hygiene experience and professional development activities.

Preferred: Proficient with digital radiography and Eagle Soft Dental Software.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate student learning experiences in laboratory, preclinical, and clinical sessions.
  • Instruct students in clinical, radiology, and laboratory settings(link removed)>
  • Instruct students in preclinical practice and direct patient care to ensure that students attain clinical competence and develop the appropriate judgment.
  • Evaluate students to assess appropriate patient care competencies, clinical skills, communication, and practice management.
  • Evaluate students in the provision of comprehensive patient-centered treatment and evidence-based care, complete and accurate recordings of all documentation, and clinical and radiographic experiences.
  • Assist students in establishing a patient-centered dental hygiene care plan.
  • Create a clinical and laboratory environment that promotes high critical thinking and technical skills for students.
  • Utilize EagleSoft dental software, digiital imaging, hand-held digital X-ray units and TalEval Dental Hygiene Process of Care Grading System.
  • Contribute to program and division curriculum development.
  • Contribute to the growth and enhancement of the program and college mission.

  • Knowledge of CODA (Commission on Dental Accreditation) standards and participation in program review and accreditation site visits

Salary: Amarillo College - Salary Schedules((link removed), Pay grade 12 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional dental clinic in a high-traffic area with continual interruptions.
