We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Die Setup Technician in our PVC extrusion facility in Pineville, NC, reporting to the Die Shop Supervisor!

Job Summary

The selected candidate will perform Die Shop set-up activities for the purposes of pipe production. These activities are to be conducted while ensuring and maximizing safety, product quality, production output, housekeeping, and cost control to achieve plant goals.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, and accurately reassemble all types of pipe dies and installing dies on machines with supervision and instructions.
  • Exhibit advanced trouble-shooting skills while assisting in start-up of pipe dies when necessary.
  • Use tapes, rulers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Fill out and use appropriate reports and forms.
  • Keep individual work area neat and clean, tooling in order, and assist in general departmental housekeeping as needed.
  • Start extrusion lines from pipe to 16 PVC and CPVC lines and put into production to meet all required specification and quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age; completion of high school education or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing environment; experience with extrusion and plastics is an asset.
  • Must have the ability to read, write and do advanced mathematics.
  • Proficient in operating a forklift truck, pallet truck and other material handling equipment and able to use basic hand tools. Forklift license is a plus.
  • Own tools which meet department tool requirements
  • Have an understanding of all procedures and instructions as required by ANSI/ASQC A9002.
  • Ability to work 12-hour continental shifts (4 days on, 4 days off); 84 hours bi-weekly; 7:00 7:00).
  • Successful candidate must complete a CTPAT background check.

Working Conditions

  • Requires good mobility and involves considerable routine walking, standing for long periods, bending, and heavy lifting up to a maximum of 50 lbs.
  • Fast-paced environment where a considerable amount of sensory attention is required.
