Assistant Kitchen Manager

Pay: $40,000 - 50,000 annually

Location: 9799 E. 116th St, Fishers, IN 46037 (Located inside of the Kroger Grocery Store)

Kitchen United is a new-to-the-world multi-unit concept that meets at the intersection of three food megatrends: localization, delivery, and artisanal production. Kitchen United provides the commercial kitchen infrastructure to enable big restaurant brands to get closer to their customers, all types of restaurants to optimize their footprint for off-premise dining occasions.

We are looking for an Assistant Kitchen Manager to prepare food to the exact menu specifications and to set up stations for service. Assistant Kitchen Manager duties will consist of assisting management with their daily tasks and managing those tasks in the absence of the Kitchen Manager. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and acquisition goals. You will be responsible for cooking multiple concepts and menus while tending to the unique needs of the kitchen and customer environments.

The role of the Kitchen United Assistant Kitchen Manager is to consistently prepare and execute multiple unique concepts to exact specifications, assist the Kitchen Manager with daily kitchen set up and readiness, filling in for the Kitchen Manager as needed, and contributing to customer satisfaction and long-term customer growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Working alongside kitchen team members to set up and stock all workstations with necessary supplies in a timely manner.
  • Prepare food for service according to standardized recipes (e.g., chopping vegetables, butchering, and cooking meat, or preparing sauces).
  • Cook menu items per approved recipes and in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff. Must be able to prepare multiple dishes at one time.
  • Answer, report and follow Kitchen Managers instructions.
  • Always maintain a clean and sanitary workstation.
  • Store leftover food appropriately, according to company policy or Kitchen Managers instruction in accordance with Health Department standards for cooling and holding.
  • Re-stock station appropriately or as directed by the Kitchen Manager.
  • Prepare menu items quickly and efficiently to ensure timely delivery to customers or delivery drivers.
  • Comply with all food safety and sanitation regulations at all times-hand washing, hot and cold holding, HACCP, etc.
  • Always maintain a positive and professional demeanor with coworkers and customers.
  • Manage the kitchen team in the KMs absence in accordance with KU policies and in support of the KMs direction.
  • Assist the KM in coaching and training the line staff.

Administration

  • Achieve KU operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change
  • Ensure all performance reviews are undertaken in a timely manner and with thorough thought and attention.
  • Ensure that all timecards are processed on time and with accuracy. Including management of sick time, overtime, personal or medical leaves, bereavement, vacation requests etc.
  • Administer employee discipline in accordance with KUs progressive disciplinary procedures and work expectations program

Results & Operations

  • Provide ongoing training and development for internal teams
  • Coordinate and manage all activity associated to the operational objectives of each Kitchen Center
  • Lead your team members in achieving Kitchen Uniteds service standards, operating processes and standards of excellence (timely completion of orders, order accuracy, and mitigation of customer complaints as necessary).
  • Maintain a professional and accountable Kitchen Center environment at all times.
  • Builds effective relationships with all team members, restaurant partners, and corporate support partners.
  • Fosters great relationships and assists with 3rd party delivery drivers, vendors and being a key part of our operations team providing excellent support to our member partners.
  • Maintain the kitchen center facility by ensuring that all preventive maintenance services are scheduled and performed and by reacting to emergency repairs in a timely manner.
  • Delivers financial & customer metrics by monitoring member satisfaction, restaurant sales, forecasting requirements; consumer reviews; optimizing labor schedules & overtime utilization; inventory control, waste management and more.
  • Exemplifies a high standard of service that permeates across the entire team to keep kitchen members (cooks); drivers & guests happy & content with their Kitchen United experience.
  • Conduct new restaurant member on-boarding and orientation activities to aid the transition of a restaurant into a Kitchen United center. Scheduling tours, conducting new member orientations and leading the restaurant on-boarding process (including receiving signed agreements, filing of proper documentation, utility management and facility administration).
  • Maintain productive and cordial relationships with all restaurant partners and their staff. Escalating any onsite conduct issues to the appropriate parties.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; complying with local, state & federal legal regulations; developing and implementing disaster plans; maintaining security and sprinkler systems; maintaining parking lots and walkways.


Requirements

  • At least 5 years experience as a line cook in a high volume, fast paced cooking environment.
  • ANSI (ServSafe) Certified Food Handler certification or equivalent required by the local municipality.
  • Working knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.
  • Familiar with industrys best practices for food handling, safety, and sanitation
  • Ability to read, understand and execute recipes and builds.
  • At least 2 years of kitchen management experience as a lead or supervisor
  • Basic knowledge of technology like; tablets, computers, POS printers, KDS monitors, DSP tablets and services
  • Experience cooking Asian and Latin cuisines.
  • Experience with scheduling
  • Experience with ordering and inventory management
  • Must have open schedule availability - expected hours of work. Mon (6am-10pm) Tues-Sun (8am-10pm)
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, and Slides)
