The Role

The Account Manager (Military) must possess the ability to develop & execute plans and inspire others to deliver desired results. The ideal candidate will need to be an experienced salesperson with account management expertise in the beverage industry. This person should have experience with both direct store delivery and direct to customer warehouse. The main priority of the Account Manager (Military) is to drive the strategy and initiatives set by the Congo Brands Military leadership team within their assigned Military Accounts, from an HQ level, down to the store level. The Account Manager (Military) is tasked with managing and selling the Congo Brands portfolio within these accounts, and is responsible for assigned strategic account targets, budgets and sales quotas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute short and long-term strategies and initiatives with Congo Brands objectives.
  • Develop & execute strategic sales/distribution plans with assigned customers to drive market share and revenue growth.
  • Actively coordinates and ensures efficacy of customer Joint Business Planning process, assortment & segmentation (POG) reviews.
  • Own the targets and results for your assigned accounts (Budget, volume, distribution, etc.)
  • Ensure proper forecasting and hurdle reports for key volume Military bases with DSD partners.
  • Influence execution of programs via decision maker within the Military chains.
  • Drives execution of account programming by collaborating with national and regional head quarter contacts and appropriate Operation Sales teams for all brands/categories.
  • Ensure all promotions are accompanied by effective POS and incremental displays.
  • Customizes presentations to appeal to customers needs and fulfill mutual objectives.
  • Secure pricing and promotional programs that align with CONGO Brands internal guidance.
  • Communicate regularly and works effectively with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Market visit ride withs to Military installations ensure merchandising and execution of programs.
  • Other Duties: Handles other such duties as they may deem fit in the execution of their duties or duties as assigned by the Military sales leadership.
  • Coach and train BERs on bases in your territory.

Key Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum of 5+ years experience working in a key account management position within a fast-paced and highly competitive business environment, preferably working as a National or Senior Account Manager.
  • A working knowledge of DSD (direct store delivery) and broker beverage experience is ideal.
  • Prepare fact-based business reviews and selling presentations for customer meetings leveraging all data sources available (syndicated, account level, etc.)
  • Analyze internal sales reports, syndicated data & category insights to identify opportunities and make strategic business decisions.
  • Proven and successful track record in establishing strong and long-term customer relationships, being able to retain the highest-value relationships.
  • Communication skills are a paramount requirement of this position.
  • Must demonstrate high proficiency in MS Office tools, which are necessary for the creation of visually and verbally engaging reports and presentations for clients and key stake holders.
  • The MAM must have an ability to demonstrate an understanding of standard sales analyses and an ability to extract useful insights from raw data and information for the purpose of strategy creation, furthering key account agendas, and enabling the achievement of goals and targets.
  • Must be customer-oriented, be patient to manage difficult customers, be result-focused, demonstrate integrity and respect in the performance of their duties, be self-motivated going beyond the call of duty, have an ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines, have exceptional organizational skills, and demonstrate calmness in uncertain and stressful situations inspiring the same in their team.
  • Military sales experience a plus.
  • Background check for Military base access will be required.
