The ideal Groundsman/Pool Attendant will be a team player, share responsibilities with and help manage other household and grounds staff, and will be required to live on property in East Hampton between May-August. Beyond that, this person will have the option of spending the rest of the year working at either the Los Angeles or NYC estates and performing home-related duties such as cleaning, housekeeping, shopping/stocking, inventory, lawn and exterior home care, etc. (*It is not required that this candidate live on property while not in East Hampton). This position requires a world class commitment to providing 6 Star service to ensure uncompromising resident and guest experience.

*Forbes 5 Star training/experience is a huge plus!


GENERAL DUTIES (include but are not limited to):

Home Care:

  • Maintaining meticulous housekeeping standards according to household cleaning manuals and standards, including main residence and guest properties
  • Commitment to maintaining rigorous organization standards including inventory/supply lists and project/task lists
  • Serve as the eyes and ears of the house for the Principal and Family Office, including daily survey of both properties to make sure all rooms are clean, organized and maintained
  • Laundry & linen care
  • Steaming Master Bedroom linens daily
  • Launder, de-lint, fold, hang and put away clothes for principal and teenager as needed and following our standard practices
  • Organizing of closets including clothes, coat and luggage closets
  • Changing linens according to the bedding schedule and standards
  • Reconcile laundry with Leonards Cleaners and Laundry by Julia using laundry tracking sheets.
  • Grocery shopping as needed
  • House and pet sitting
  • Vendor interfacing and supervision as needed
  • Occasional errands as requested
  • Carefully and clearly answering the telephone and taking accurate messages, relaying same to principal and his office
  • Greeting and handling guests according to household standards
  • Necessary vacuuming and sweeping floors
  • Mopping and waxing non-carpeted floors as needed
  • Cleaning interior and exterior windows
  • Dusting furniture, cabinets, surfaces and books with care and with careful and strict avoidance of art, sculpture and valuable books (cleaned by others)
  • Clean and disinfect door knobs, window sills, screens and door handles house wide
  • Detail cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms (all showers, sinks, baths, cabinets)
  • Detail cleaning and disinfecting kitchen sinks, stove tops, ovens, refrigerators, cabinets, toaster, microwave, coffee machine etc.
  • Regularly empty and clean garbage bins throughout the house
  • Maintain accurate grocery and shopping lists
  • Maintain organized pantries/labeling of pantry items including description and expiration dates
  • Maintain organized refrigerators/labeling of items including description and expiration dates
  • Organize, clean, restock refrigerators/freezer daily

Pet care:

  • Feeding the dog according to pet schedule and special diet
  • Manage medications
  • Daily dog walking (track exercise time/hours daily)
  • Occasional pet grooming/brushing as needed
  • Assisting with in-house veterinarian exams, taking notes to report to Principal

Butlering/Service:

  • Assist in preparation, serving and clean-up of family meals (generally Wednesdays-Fridays and every other weekend), business meetings and special events
  • Guest reception and concierge services: Receive guests and provide hotel level guest services with highest commitment to excellence (guest house preparation, greeting, packing, unpacking, concierge services, etc.)
  • Lead server for formal and informal dinner parties
  • Preparation and service of beverages for family and occasional family guests
  • Executive support at home for Principal as needed, including coordination with family office and corporate staff
  • Communicate and proactively manage all activities and appointments with Principal. Ensure Principal is always well informed with respect to days activities and is progressing through schedule on time
  • Help prepare for family trips and personal travel, including packing and unpacking
  • Property/Project/Task Management (in conjunction with the House Manager):
  • Review/improve/develop task lists for housekeeping/landscaping/house maintenance using Microsoft Outlook
  • Assist in developing and maintaining house Master Project List with all open issues/projects for all employees with updated status and completion deadline
  • Maintain integrity of household art and items in conjunction with all staff members
  • Serve as the aesthetic eyes of the households focused on preserving the aesthetic and architectural integrity of the households; Perform daily inspections of the properties

  • Participate in training, other learning activities and professional development as required
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs. and perform heavy duty deep cleaning as needed

  • Service orientation at highest level of attentiveness. No job too menial to handle, always ensure that principal is avoiding jobs that can be accomplished by others

Requirements

  • Professional license or certification relevant to the performance of the duties described herein
  • Experience in management of family affairs
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures is helpful
  • Schedule must be flexible for evening and weekend work and be willing to live-in
  • Must be willing to travel often from coast to coast, as needed
