Mediavine is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer II to help grow our SRE/Operations team. We provide our engineering teams with infrastructure and solutions architecture support using AWS cloud services, infrastructure as code, and automation tools. Applicants must be based in the United States.

Position Title & Overview:

As a Site Reliability Engineer II at Mediavine, you will work with existing SREs to build our infrastructure, optimize the performance and availability of our services, and follow best practices and guiding principles for a healthy and knowledgeable team of SREs. You will contribute to new infrastructure projects and maintain AWS workloads. Our current AWS environment consists of a wide array of APIs and microservices and multi-regional, server-side bidding platforms that receive upwards of 50,000 requests per second.

The SRE team doubles as a general Operations team at Mediavine and is expected to respond to Service Desk tickets from our Engineering, Product, and Data teams. This position is very collaborative; a successful SRE will have excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts as efficiently and succinctly as possible to all stakeholders. Youll be working on a team of other SREs and will work directly with the QA, Product, and Engineering teams regularly. Our goal here at Mediavine is to ensure that you are challenged and that you enjoy the work you do, as well as the people you get to do it with.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Work independently to write and design software to manage our infrastructure and applications, including monitoring and detecting problems related to high usage, slow response times, database failures, etc.
• Participate in incident documentation and post-mortem meetings with any related engineers and stakeholders
• Work with development and QA teams to improve our applications and processes through rigorous testing and release procedures
• Develop and implement run books for when issues arise with any given service or application
• Work with our data team to monitor specific metrics, set thresholds, and trigger alerts based on those thresholds
• Create deployment and rollback processes
• Participate in on-call rotations for our products and services
• Participate in capacity planning (new product launches, high traffic seasons or holidays, etc)
• As business needs change, be flexible in learning and applying your skills and experience on other product teams

Requirements

Location:

• Applicants must be based in the United States

You Have:

• 4+ years of proven experience maintaining scalable, complex, large-scale, customer-facing web services
• 2+ years of experience designing highly-available infrastructure/applications to run in the public cloud following AWS best practices
• 2+ years of experience as an SRE or similar role
• 2+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling (Terraform, AWS CDK)
• Experience working with Observability Stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana, etc.)
• Experience with container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, AWS Fargate, AWS ECS)
• Experience coding or scripting automation in at least one of the following languages: Go, Python, JavaScript, Bash, Ruby, etc.
• Experience with CI/CD orchestration tools (We use CircleCI and AWS CodePipeline)
• Experience with and knowledge of disaster recovery processes
• Availability for 24-hour on-call rotation for service-related issues
• Ability to spot performance bottlenecks and work with development teams to research, propose, and design solutions
• Experience working on distributed/remote teams

• AWS Certifications (SAA, SAP, DA)
• Experience with Log Aggregation tools (Cloudwatch/Cloudwatch Insights, ELK stack, Loki)
• Experience leading or mentoring other engineers
• Experience building applications with Node.js, TypeScript, and React
