Dimensional Metrologist and Quality Assurance Technician

Full-time

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs calibrations and adjustments for numerous calibration devices; primarily dimensional
  • Maintains proper documentation, which includes but is not limited to the metrology database, calibration certificates, equipment history forms, time sheets and automated calibration software.
  • Conducts self-study to improve and maintain technical proficiency in calibration theory, methods and equipment.
  • Communicates to customers as it relates to the progress of the testing, repair and/or service(s).
  • Calibrates inspections, measurements and tests equipment in lab for accuracy in accordance with established calibration procedures
  • Understands basic uncertainty contributor. Variation - understanding of variance of measurements and procedure = next level of step of knowledge.
  • Identifies and utilizes appropriate measurement procedures.
  • Generates certificates of calibration and/or out of tolerance reports as required and in correct media appropriate to meet customer requirements.
  • Maintains secondary or intrinsic and/or working calibration standards. Uses calibration software when required to expedite calibration times and to adjust calibration devices.
  • Support lab system administration functions
  • Collect, compile, measure, summarize, and record data gathered during calibration.
  • Prioritizes daily functions to maximize the continuous manufacture of acceptable parts;
  • Utilize various measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, gages and other handheld measuring devices for open set ups
  • Use an Optical Comparator for measurement of parts and characteristics
  • Understand and perform to all current quality standards
  • Communicate inspection results effectively with co-workers and supervisors
  • Focus on Quality Assurance through First-piece inspection, in-process inspection, final inspection, use of IM&TE, upholding tolerances and customers specifications

  • Able to measure parts using a variety of inspection equipment (e.g. micrometers, calipers, gage pins, thread gages, etc.) to verify part features
  • Understand and use GD&T concepts like position, profile, and flatness
  • Have a basic understanding of machining processes to support communications of findings to the production floor
  • Accurately completes all required paperwork
  • Able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, vendors and customers
  • Able to read and understand drawings, specifications, and documentation
