Role Overview

Good Sports is looking for a creative and innovative thinker who is willing to take on challenges and join our team as the Marketing & Communications Specialist. The Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day management and execution of marketing and communications efforts to grow Good Sports branding and name recognition.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Relationship with External PR Firm
    • Work with 3rd party PR Firm to be responsive to the Firms needs and requirements for pitches
    • Ensure visual and editorial integrity of the brand in all public-facing communications
  • Digital Marketing & Brand Management
    • Manage and write content for the website as needed to ensure the site is current, dynamic, and relevant
    • Write, and deploy email marketing campaigns
    • Strategize and oversee the production of photo and video content
    • Manage Google Grant, to include web analytics and ad word campaigns on an ongoing basis and generate monthly reports regarding site traffic (through management of Google Analytics and Google AdWords)
    • Manage the annual report process from a content and design standpoint leveraging the support of 3rd party creative firm
    • Maintain updated style and brand guides and create best practices around marketing assets
    • Oversee design and ordering of branded products, including Online Store
    • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with vendors and independent contractors, including web developers, creative firms (JackRabbit), photographers, videographers, and online marketing consultants. Lead/direct photo and video shoots as necessary.
  • Athlete Ambassadors
    • Serve as primary relationship manager for Good Sports Ambassador Jesse Palmer, Ambassador Stef Dolson, and other ambassador targets
  • Social Media Execution & Strategy
    • Develop and execute the Good Sports social media strategy
    • Create engaging text, image, and video content that educates and engages to support organizational goals
    • Develop an optimal posting schedule, considering web traffic and engagement metrics
    • Monitor, engage and grow online communities through best-practice community management. Drive consistent, relevant traffic from social network presence.
    • Invest deeply in industry knowledge and stay on top of trends in social platforms to ensure maximum effectiveness
  • Account Management/Partnerships
    • Develop and share compelling stories of impact (grant recipient organizations) with Program Team support
    • Provide social support to amplify relationships with corporate, foundation, and athlete partners, including the execution of contractually obligated social media posts; press releases; campaigns; and events
    • Proactively leverage Good Sports marketing assets to further steward and cultivate relationships with partners/donors
  • Events
    • Work with the Fundraising & Business Development Team to manage marketing promotional plans; campaigns; and materials for fundraising events
  • Other
    • All other duties as may be assigned by the Co-Founder & President
    • This position does not currently oversee any direct reports
    • Travel as necessary based on the needs of the business and for the execution of this role
    • Ability to work occasional evening and/or weekend events as needed

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

    • Passionate about the mission of Good Sports
    • Fully vaccinated against Covid-19
    • An Undergraduate Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, Communications, or a related field, plus 3-5 years of post-graduate applicable work experience in a professional office environment. Non-profit experience is a plus. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
    • Solid understanding of traditional and emerging marketing channels
    • Proven experience in marketing, social media, and content creation (i.e., writing, taking & editing photos/videos). Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Tactical experience with social media tracking, social media content calendar planning, and analyzing tools (i.e., Sprout Social and Facebook Insights
    • Basic Adobe Photoshop& Adobe Illustrator and graphic design skills understanding is preferred
    • Strong understanding of Google AdWords, Google Analytics, and SEO
    • Essential understanding of WordPress or website management
    • Comfort with email marketing strategies using Campaign Monitor or other email platforms
    • Self-initiated, accountable, and well-organized with an ability to keep track of multiple priorities with competing deadlines
    • Analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges
    • Highly personable and able to work with a variety of people, including both internal and external constituents
    • Ability to engage in cross-functional collaboration across all Good Sports business units to achieve organizational goals
    • Proven experience working with Microsoft applications and the ability to quickly learn new technology

Reporting Relationship and Location

The Specialist is a Braintree, MA-based position (this is not a remote role) and will report to the Co-Founder & President. All Good Sports general office employees are expected to report to the Braintree Office 4 days/week, with the option to work remotely from a home office on 1 designated day/week.
