Trades Warehouse Assistant

Home Office Location: 601 First Street NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504.

Position Classification: Full-Time Regular


About This Opportunity

As the Warehouse Assistant at Rockford Construction, you will handle daily operations of the trades warehouse including managing and organize tools and equipment deliveries and general upkeep of the shop. The warehouse Assistant will maintain high level of accuracy when pulling orders and support the day-to-day operations of the trades field staff. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, organized, a team player and mechanically inclined. This position reports to the Trades Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep materials and product off the floor and where they belong.
  • Keep record of Trades, tools and inventory.
  • Keep record of tool serial numbers and maintenance.
  • Keep a clean and safe working environment.
  • Maintain Trades warehouse, keep it organized and clean.
  • Handle all incoming deliveries and sort material / product.
  • Handle all outgoing deliveries to job sites, etc.
  • Transport any other materials and product to and from jobsites/office.
  • Communicate with Rockford staff when tools need repair/replacement.
  • Maintain trailers and large equipment as needed.
  • Dispose of any unneeded or unwanted materials thru safe and legal means.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education Requirements:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.


Competency Requirements:

  • 3 or more years of experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Must possess the ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Chauffeur's license or the ability and willingness to obtain one.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with others to complete tasks.
  • Familiarity with MIOSHA and OSHA requirements.
  • Occasional lifting of 50 lbs. or less.


Bonus Skills and Experience:

  • First Aid and CPR Certification (safety training will be provided upon hire).

Environmental Factors

The work environment for this position may subject the individual to hazards commonly associated with construction including high temperatures, humidity, cold temperatures, and climbing stairs and ladders. Other examples of physical hazards include noise, proximity to moving vehicles, atmospheric conditions, close quarters, uneven surfaces, and elevated surfaces. The individual may also be subject to outside environmental conditions (weather) where protection may not be available. Lifting of 50 lbs, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing will be necessary to perform the requirements of this position. Use of mobile equipment and power tools will be frequent. Personal protective equipment (PPE) including proper footwear, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection (if applicable), high visibility vest and/or other special clothing shall be worn on construction sites at all times unless otherwise specified.


Varied amounts of travel and time away from home should be expected as a requirement of this position. Extended stays away from home may result depending on the location of the project in proximity to the individuals home.
