Nextern is hiring for the role Facilities/Janitorial Associate. This role comes with competitive pay and a full benefits package (details below)
The Facilities Associate is primarily responsible for support of the Nextern Campus, with a focus on janitorial cleaning, preventive maintenance, facilities support, and minor exterior upkeep. The preferred candidate will take great pride in the appearance of the campus, reflecting the image of a world class facility. This position must demonstrate safe work habits and maintain a clean and safe work area.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilities / Janitorial (80%)
o Cleaning, stocking and supplying designated facility areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning etc)
o Performing and documenting routine inspection and maintenance activities
o Align work direction with contract Cleaning and Maintenance services
o Carry out heavy cleaning tasks and special projects
o Daily and Weekly Site Audits focused on Repair and Safety
o Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs
o Make adjustments and minor repairs
o Stock and maintain supply rooms
o Cooperate with the rest of the staff
o Follow all health and safety regulations
o Portions of workload may be outside as needed
Shipping and Receiving Area (20%)
o Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, reports damaged items and shortages
o Routes items to departments.
o Uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
o Uses Fork Lift to move shipments between two (2) warehouses.
o Assists the production team when necessary, as time allows.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
One-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven working experience as a cleaner
Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets
Integrity
Forklift Certification desirable
Familiarity with cleaning tools and equipment are required
Language Skills:
o Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills:
o Ability to calculate basic figures and amounts such as discounts, sums, proportions, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
o Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
o To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Microsoft Office; Ability to be trained on Primary ERP Software
