Environmental Field Technician - Rock Springs, WY

Full-time
$60,000-$70,000 annually OR option for hourly pay + $145 per diem

Job Summary:
REC is currently in search of an Engineering Technician to fulfill the role of a full-time technician responsible for landfill construction quality assurance (CQA) and construction surveying. This position primarily involves on-site field work within the local area, but occasional travel and overnight stays, including weekends, may be necessary. As an Engineering Technician, you will receive guidance from senior-level professionals. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct construction monitoring and document construction activities at solid waste landfill and power plant/pond facilities, which includes performing field inspections and tests on soils, geosynthetic liners, leachate and gas management systems, and other control systems. Training will be provided when required.
  • Ensure overall compliance with project specifications and construction drawings.
  • Possess effective communication, writing, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to collaborate and coordinate with senior staff, management, and direct support staff.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and a willingness to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Having a background in soils laboratory coursework and an interest in construction is definitely advantageous.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma is a minimum requirement, while an Associates in Engineering is preferred.
  • Must have the ability to travel, including potential out-of-state assignments. Expenses for out-of-town assignments will be covered.
  • Occasional visits to the Denver office may be required to assist the project manager in finalizing project data and compiling certification reports.
  • Expectation of a work schedule that may include 6-7 days per week during the construction season, with overtime anticipated.
  • A valid Driver's license and personal vehicle are necessary.
  • Physical ability to lift 70 pounds is a requirement.
  • Possessing experience in geosynthetics observation would also be highly beneficial.
