At Altom Transport, Inc. transportation issues can present real challenges to our clients, and we are looking for a Operational Support Administrator for our Detroit, MI and Canadian based operations to meet these challenges head-on! As a Operational Support Administrator you will be expected to maintain effective communications with our drivers, customers, and management team to ensure superior service and administrative excellence. This position reports directly to the Manager of Operations Midwest & Canada.


The position will provide direct support of all Detroit and Canadian based operations with a primary focus on administrative excellence. The position will require frequently checking email, phone, and text communications. This will include the following (but not limited too):

  • Detroit Administrative TruckMate dispatch/tracking, order entry, PeopleNet workflow monitoring, vector accuracy, driver contact/follow up, cross-border paperwork, USCG prior notification, GoCanvas dispatch, occasional afterhours operational support, occasional weekend coverage/support, and occasional vacation/time off coverage.
  • Sarnia, ON Operations TruckMate dispatch/tracking, order entry, PeopleNet workflow monitoring, vector accuracy, driver contact/follow up, cross-border paperwork, daily and next day dispatch/load planning, tracking target BBLs per month, occasional afterhours operational support, occasional weekend/support coverage, and occasional vacation/time off coverage.
  • Canada Administrative TruckMate dispatch/tracking, order entry, PeopleNet workflow monitoring, vector accuracy, driver contact/follow up, cross-border paperwork, occasional afterhours operational support, occasional weekend/support coverage, and occasional vacation/time off coverage.
    • This position will support all cross-border and administrative functions.
    • This position will monitor (and dispatch where applicable) all active company drivers, owner operators, equipment assignments, on time performance, and coordination of load recovery efforts.
    • This position must be highly effective and proactive with verbal & digital communications.
    • This position requires proactive and Immediate communication of any incidents or accidents to Safety Department,
    • This position will update and communicate any ACI/ACE PAPS/PARS cross border changes to Driver(s), Dispatch, and Terminal Leadership.
    • This position requires proactive communication of all equipment breakdowns to appropriate Terminal Leadership, Maintenance Management, and Dispatch.
    • Terminal Leadership, and Maintenance Management. Seek appropriate support for situational or emergency resolution.
    • This position will support process improvement and recommendation of operational processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a customer centric role.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in an Administrative Professional role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with focus on Microsoft Office applications.
  • Preferred experience in the Petro/Chemical Industry.
  • Ability to support all business operations - which could include "off hours", weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across different medias and multi-task a variety of projects.
  • Support and monitor employee workflow, safety, compliance, dispatching, and order entry.
  • Ability to take direction, ask questions, and be a self-starter.
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time during a normal workday.
  • Familiarity with transportation dispatch software and electronic logging platforms.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • High school diploma required.
  • College degree preferred, but not required.
  • POSITION LOCATED IN HAMMOND, INDIANA.
