Job Description

Job Summary:

About the Role:

As an incumbent in this role, you will lead and anchor the Star Sports brand and manage off platform (social) strategy.

It s a leadership role with a medium sized team help defining the roadmap for brand Star Sports.

Context:

Star Sports is a key catalyst in espousing a multisport culture in India. Over the past decade, it has invested in and partnered with key stakeholders to popularize sports beyond Cricket. Brand Star Sports will complete 10 years in 2023 and thus the key responsibility will be to shape brand Star Sports which is futuristic and synonymous with the best content that the world of sports offers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Redefine the brand framework for Star Sports to ensure that it is in sync with the fan expectations and remains relevant in today s multimedia world.
  • Define the omnichannel fan experience with the Star Sports brand and ensuring that each experience for the fan is world class.
  • Help design & define the digital/social experience and ensure that the brand increases fan engagement, to start and maintain consumer dialogue in social media with a roadmap & the role that each social platform needs to play in acquiring and engaging fans.
  • Driving viewership (awareness, intention to watch) for different Sport properties through the year through disruptive and memorable communication and marketing plans. This involves:
  • Driving the end-to-end consumer strategy to grow consumption & drive penetration measured by billion minutes of viewership / reach
  • Defining the key fan cohorts & thus Developing a fan journey into effective a product, media and communication plans
  • Leading diverse and multi-functional project teams to manage the end-to-end delivery of marketing plans for the different properties in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Working closely with:
    • Internal & External partners: Advertising agencies, media planners and media partners (Radio/Print/TV channels), research agencies, activation agencies, social and digital agencies, production houses/partners, Bollywood studios
    • Sports federations and other Government bodies
  • Providing inputs in the leadership team (marketing/programming/business teams) and working closely with other functions to co-create plans

Performance Measures:

  • Delivering brand awareness / preference metrics for Star Sports
  • Managing brand standards across all touchpoints
  • Fan acquisition & engagement metrics
  • Cross functional collaboration
  • Delivering the viewership targets
  • Delivering best in class creativity / innovations

Qualifications:

MBA (preferably from premium B School) with 12-15 years of experience in Marketing and at least 5 years in Brand Marketing honed over large iconic Indian / global brands along with strong people and stakeholder management skills.

Personal Attributes:

  • Proven ability to develop brand and marketing strategies
  • Ability for leading the execution in a multi project, multi stakeholder environment
  • Experience in identifying target audiences and devising effective campaigns at PAN India level
  • Data and Insights Driven decision making
  • Avid Sports enthusiast
  • Disposition to groom the next line of Managers to lead independent projects and progressively take up higher responsibility
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high paced and ambiguous environment
