Job Description


Amazon Books Risk Management (BRM) team ensures that all books listed on Amazon s websites satisfy legal requirements and do not violate internal policies. The BRM Automation team creates processes to proactively identify non-compliant books for the purposes of blocking, re-categorizing, or otherwise restricting books. The consequences of inaccurate identification includes exposure of inappropriate and/or harmful content to customers, loss of trust from legitimate publishers, damage to the Amazon brand, and/or legal ramifications for Amazon. BRM Automation primarily owns and creates rules in RBMS (Rules Based Matching System) platform. The team currently has 11 team members (Program Managers, Support Engineers, Risk Managers). This role is based out of Chennai (MAA), India and shift timings are 2 PM to 11 PM.

* Own the design and development of heuristic based automated compliance and regulatory checks for the World s largest Bookstore
* Dive deep and works to help solve critical design issues involving algorithm, pipeline, data-net jobs etc.
* Participate in design reviews for complex control systems, simulations, algorithms and software development owned by your team, partner teams and vendors
* Influences within your team and partner teams to help drive and develop the technical implementation for overall system designs
* Identify and implement process improvements which improve your team s agility. This may include improvements to design, automation, development, test or operations.
* Define and/or refine system requirements, participate in the development and delivery of Interoperability-related features such as system health monitoring, diagnostics, repair, and other self-healing automation.
* Simultaneously manage multiple high-visibility projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors
* Develop and maintain controls software code/scripts for Decision Support Engine system.
* Studying and learning from industry recognized Amazon senior and Principal engineers. Coaching, hiring and developing team members
A day in the life
On a typical day engineers might dive deep into understanding the root cause of customer issue, investigate why a metric is trending the wrong way, consult with top engineers at Amazon, or discuss radical new approaches to automate customer facing /operational issues.
Experienced systems development engineers often have leadership impact on their teams by becoming subject matter experts on several services. They develop, build, deploy, operate, and grow the services in cloud production environments. They are able to utilize trends and metrics to identify opportunities for improvements. They help develop and refine procedures used by their team and internal customers.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Chennai, TN, IND, - 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 7+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby - Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java
- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
