Position Summary

The Associate Dean, Operations in the School of Business and Nonprofit Management has responsibility for the operational functions of the school and provides key management and leadership across undergraduate and graduate programs. This position reports to the Dean, School of Business and Nonprofit Management.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Dean to manage the day-to-day operations of SBNM.
  • Schedule classes and assign the instructors for both the undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Interview (with the dean and appropriate faculty), hire, and orient adjuncts. Handle student evaluations for the adjunct instructors and mentor instructors as needed to improve teaching.
  • Provide Academic Advising to students in the School of Business and Nonprofit Management
  • Meet with prospective undergraduate students to explain our programs.
  • Supervise operations employees, including the graduate advisors.
  • Be SBNMs liaison with the records office, the financial aid office, facilities, student accounts, the admission office, and other administrative offices.
  • Assist with the accreditation process, student outcomes assessment, and curriculum development.
  • Manage the development of new projects at SBNM.
  • Oversee SBNM publications and events.
  • Teach 2 units (in-loaded) each year in Business or Nonprofit Management.

Requirements

  • A masters degree.
  • Evidence of effective teaching post-secondary and graduate-level students.
  • Three years of business or nonprofit experience required.
  • Willingness to work some evenings.
  • A personal commitment to, and appreciation of, the three distinctives of North Park University Christian, Urban, Intercultural.
  • A developmental understanding of post-secondary and graduate level students and a desire to facilitate and encourage this development in a supportive and service-oriented environment.
  • The ability to effectively communicate with students, administrators, faculty and staff members, and outside constituencies.
  • The ability to effectively coordinate many overlapping tasks.
  • Appreciation for the diversity of the Chicagoland business community and ability to network with appropriate entities and business and non-profit leaders.
  • The ability to work a 12-month (not an academic 9 month) schedule.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook needed.
  • Three or more years in higher education preferred.
