Role Summary

Were looking to bring on a dedicated Production Technician to our team who will help us meet the increasing and immediate needs of customers. You will be actively involved and support the production of our spreads and products, while adhering to company and regulatory protocols and guidelines. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing food-science startup for an individual who is committed to learning and their own growth.

We are currently looking for an individual that can work between 1pm-10pm. Morning availability is not needed.

This is an hourly, non-exempt position based at our 2500 Campbell St. facility in Oakland, California.

What youll do

Food Preparation

• Prepare, roast, grind, mix, and pack a variety of products according to customers orders or instructions of management, following approved procedures.
• Strictly adhere to all the HACCP and GMPs policies and procedures to ensure the quality and safety of our products.
• Provide support in areas of production such as Batching, Preparation and Mixing, ensuring that the ingredients are of high quality and available to Production.

Food Assembly

• Ensure prepared items are available for the assembly line.
• Participate in the jar and pouching production line.
• Fill individual serving cartons with portions by hand or using an automatic filling machine.
• Examine filled jars, cups or pouches for completeness and appearance, and store completed units in storage areas correctly.

Food Safety and Staff

• Adhere to all safety and processing procedures with consideration of the facility, product, and other personnel.
• Communicate effectively with the Production Manager and all other production team members.
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with regulatory protocol.
• Report all incidents (safety issues, spills, accidents, etc) to the Production Manager.
• Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and maintain the work area including the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), sanitation chemicals and cleaning equipment assigned to the work area
• Perform other duties as assigned

What makes an ideal candidate

• 2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing or related environment, preferably in food manufacturing or production.
• Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work alternate shifts including, early mornings, and weekends
• The ability to consistently lift up to 50 pounds
• The ability to work cleanly and efficiently
• Posses a can-do attitude and be able and willing to take direction
• Ability to communicate with supervisors and managers regarding work assignments/safety issues.
• Ability to read, write and speak basic English for the safe and effective performance of the job.

Compensation

United States-based roles only: The hourly rate for this role is between $21-23/hour plus immediate participation in our benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs. All employees are owners of Voyage Foods and receive an equity grant as part of their total package. At Voyage Foods, we approach each individual's compensation with a promise of fair market value and internal equity commensurate with experience and specific skill set.
