Director of Technology, Product Innovation

As Director of Technology, Product Innovation, you will play the role of technology leader for designing, building, and maintaining all technical ecosystem required for new product line at Employer Direct Healthcare (EDH). For next 3 years, Cancer Care Direct (CCD) product will be the new product line on which you will focus. In no scenario, your skills, impact, and leadership will be only limited to CCD it will be one of the key priorities in near future with option to focus on multiple opportunities in other areas of Technology leadership as the product matures. CCD is the first end-to-end cancer care solution in healthcare market that provides members with personalized guidance and support throughout their cancer journeys. All technical ecosystem required to support the fulfillment of CCD service commitments will work on institutional framework established for EDH incumbent product, SurgeryPlus. You will get the opportunity to lead a focused technology team who will be responsible for delivery of strategy and execution of the end-to-end technical platforms and backend for CCD in alignment with new product strategy direction from executive leadership while leveraging whatever is appropriate from existing SurgeryPlus environment. You will have direct exposure to EDH executive leaders including CEO. For this position, it is essential to have self-drive, clear understanding of ownership, accountability, zeal to deliver with a sense of urgency, ability to collaborate with executives and technology leaders and have skills to create a productive environment for the team.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead development of high volume, scalable server-side features utilizing enterprise grade software language such as .NET, C#, JAVA, or similar language frameworks.
  • Participation in full-cycle software development including requirement and specification analysis, software design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • In addition to software solutions, get equally involved in developing SAAS platform integrations, data analytics and operational reporting solutions required for product operations and fulfillment.
  • Generate and maintain a forward-looking technology roadmap and work with IT leadership and others to attain milestones on said roadmap.
  • Develop and manage technology operational procedures, policies, and standards as it pertains to CCD platform development and execution. 2
  • Refine, oversee, and update technology platform performance metrics and related business impact. Collaborate with business and technology teammates to analyze functional and technical specifications and decompose them into testable units of work.
  • Model and document appropriately to support various software analysis, design, construction, and test activities.
  • Employ leading-edge technology and software development principles to construct code optimized for high volume traffic and industry-leading customer experiences.
  • Lead the creation of automated unit/integration tests against interfaces and functional requirements.
  • Respond to inquiries from business stakeholders, customer support and internal customers regarding functions and operation of software and systems.
  • Facilitate collaboration and coordinate development activities within an agile development environment.
  • Review solution designs and code and provide feedback to the team.
  • Support project planning by providing technical details on tasks, estimates, resource projections and project preparations.
  • Monitor and communicate technology platform health metrics to executive management and participate in executive meetings.
  • Prepare architecture and design technical documents.
  • Coach and train technology team on technology best practices, and mentor and grow those around you.
  • Help in growing strategic accounts through successful delivery and new opportunity exploration.
  • Work with other IT teams and departments to support various projects and integrate systems and services.
  • Special projects as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in information technology or engineering or computer science or information systems or technology management is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Working knowledge of building technology solutions for healthcare navigation and case management solutions and/or provider EHR, EMR (e.g., Epic, Salesforce Health Cloud, Cerner, etc.) is highly preferred. Special consideration for MBA with general management or product innovation or strategy management.
  • 5+ years of technology management experience with focus on digital platforms implementation, maintenance, development, and integrations
  • 3+ years of leading technical team of software, quality, data engineers
  • Pedigree of software engineering or application / web development and design and development of web solutions; preference for experience with Microsoft Stack (Azure, SQL, C#, ASP.NET, Angular).
  • Experience in enterprise scale application development with ASP.NET, JAVA, or similar language frameworks and equally versed with modern coding skills with TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Ruby etc. 3 Strong working knowledge of database design constructs and middleware bindings such as Microsoft SQL Server, LINQ, and Entity Framework
  • Strong development knowledge of REST APIs, Web Services, WCF services
  • Working experience with frontend technologies for HTML, JavaScript framework (such as Angular or React) and CSS framework/technologies (such as Bootstrap / SASS, LASS)
  • Strong knowledge of GitHub or TFS or Azure DevOps Knowledge of Postman, Swagger, JIRA, Selenium is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable in OOA/D and N-tier application best practices.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of database design and development principles.
  • Experience with unit and integration testing and automated testing tools
  • Knowledge of design patterns
  • Effective communication and leadership skills
  • Must have excellent verbal, written, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must demonstrate flexibility and excellent organizational skills with the ability to complete a variety of tasks accurately with high diligence and creativity.
