Job Summary:

Drives advanced mobile leak detection equipment through assigned areas to collect methane emissions data that is utilized by field technicians and the companys Distribution Integrity Management group. Identifies and works with the regions (Illinois) leak survey supervisor and analyst on issues that are found in the field. Drivers are needed for all parts of Illinois.

Pay Range:

  • $21-$23 per hour depending on experience
  • Estimated Start: October 15, 2023
  • Monday Sunday, less than, or up to 40 hours a week
  • 8 pm-6 am

Start Date: October 15

Work Hours:9 hour shifts

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Must be at least 21 years old (due to general liability insurance requirements)
  • Associate degree or other post-secondary degree/certification in IT, preferred
  • 0-2 years of utility maintenance operations, data collection, compliance, or quality control experience, preferred
  • Veterans with experience in technology or logistics are highly encouraged to apply.

***This position requires driving a data collection vehicle at night, 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The schedule is subject to change.*

Requirements

Essential Functions:

  • Measures methane emissions by operating advanced mobile leak detection equipment predominantly at night.
  • Accurately enters external data collection parameters to ensure equipment utilizes correct algorithms for calculations.
  • Verifies proper equipment function and documents data collection drives to assure system safety and reliability.
  • Plans daily routes using maps and existing drive data to ensure effective operation of the Data Collection technology and maximum field-of-view coverage.
  • Participates in the continuous improvement of data collection technologies and methods.
  • Observes, notes, and reports irregularities of driving routes, data collection equipment, and vehicles, to ensure supervision is aware of any potential problems.
  • Responds to our internal and external customers requests, questions, and concerns in a manner that meets customer expectations.
  • Observes, documents, and communicates gas leaks or malfunctioning of equipment and other hazardous conditions to ensure customer and employee safety and compliance with company policy.
  • Participates in training and cross-training to increase job knowledge and competency.
  • Identifies equipment issues that need to be addressed.


Working Conditions:

  • Able to support the Emergency Operating Plan.
  • Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether open office, cubicle or private office.
  • Able to work inside a vehicle for most of the work schedule and occasionally work outside for some of the work schedules with exposure to all weather conditions.
  • Able to travel to field locations to conduct data collecting and stay overnight, as required.
  • Able to adapt easily to changing work schedules.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with a high volume of workload and frequent, short deadlines including working nights, holidays, and/or weekends to meet established deadlines and to support emergency situations.
  • Able to travel for various functions, meetings, and other company-related commitments and stay overnight as required.
  • Able to be on call and respond accordingly in the event of emergency situations.
  • May be required to remain in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities assigned by the company to aid in restoration efforts.
  • Must agree to company car driving policy.
