Hotel Royal Oak is a 58-room downtown Royal Oak boutique hotel. We are seeking several friendly and professional Hotel Front Desk Guest Service Representatives to join our team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, ensuring that they receive exceptional customer service throughout their stay. As a vital member of our team, you will be responsible for performing a range of duties, including checking guests in and out, answering phone calls, responding to guest requests, and providing information about the hotel and surrounding area. We'd prefer very outgoing people who are computer savvy, and familiar with entertainment and dining options for visitors to Royal Oak and the Detroit metropolitan area. We are in the process of governmental approvals for liquor service, so this position will include substantial tips from serving guests beer, wine, and pre-mixed cocktails. We have three shifts available: 4a-12p, 12p to 8p, 8p to 4a.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner upon their arrival.
  • Check guests in and out of the hotel using our computer system.
  • Assist guests with any questions or concerns they may have during their stay.
  • Answer phone calls and email inquiries promptly and courteously.
  • Make and confirm reservations for guests.
  • Ensure a clean and welcoming lobby area at all times.
  • Consistently provide excellent customer service to guests.
  • Serve guests beer, wine, and pre-mixed cocktails.
  • The morning position will prepare the lobby for the morning breakfast and cocktail service. This candidate should enjoy laying out a delicious spread for guests to munch. This position is well suited to morning people who want to be done with work by noon and have the whole afternoon free.
  • The afternoon position will check in the majority of guests. This candidate should be gregarious, and friendly and enjoy pouring a welcome cocktail for our arriving guests. This position is well suited for afternoon people who want to sleep in and start work at noon.
  • The evening position will serve the majority of liquor service, clean up after the last call, and help plan the day for incoming tasks. This candidate will enjoy entertaining guests with bar service. The position is well suited for hospitality professionals who enjoy working at night and making great tips, and who like staying up late.

Requirements

  • Prior experience working in a hospitality or customer service role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Proficient in using computer systems and basic office software.
  • Must be eligible for tips training, and prior liquor service experience is strongly preferred.
  • Hospitality experience is mandatory.

Benefits

Our guests are very interesting and friendly, they are from all over the world. We're located just steps from downtown Royal Oak and we have a unique hip, local, and social experience. This position is unique and we will shortly be adding liquor service to it so that guests will receive cocktails when they check-in and will be entertained in the lobby by you and other guests. As part of the social experience, qualified candidates need to be extroverted and social, which makes the job way more entertaining than the average hotel. Our guests also tip well.
