About this Opportunity

Rockford Construction is currently hiring an experienced Vice President of Finance. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and partnering with the various operational leaders, the VP of Finance will play a critical role in developing and implementing all elements of business strategy and financial management, as well as leading all company finance and accounting functions to achieve annual and long-term profitability. This role is accountable for building and leading highly efficient financial and risk management operations for the company, including financial software, policies and procedures, performance, reporting and development. Additionally, this individual will assesses, evaluates and provides solutions to help the company achieve financial goals by examining objectives, determining the necessary resources and organizing a plan of action. This is an in-office position.

Requirements

Competency Requirements:

  • Oversee Accounting Team to deliver business results through best practices and efficiency.
  • Engage with the Board of Directors and managers to develop short-term and long-term strategies, plans, projections, and budgets.
  • Establish annual budget for entire Organization.
  • Auditing and analyzing company expenses and budgets.
  • Advise company Board of Directors, executives, managers on financial goals.
  • Evaluate financial performance of each market, service, and region.
  • Establish KPIs, financial goals, and strategies for each market, service, and region.
  • Prepare and present monthly budget, reporting and forecast. Make appropriate recommendations to align with the company strategic plan and KPIs.
  • Identify and implement systems and software that provide critical financial and operational information.
  • Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures for an S-Corp.
  • Remain current of audit best practices and laws related to federal, state, and local laws regarding company operations.
  • Review month-end closing process for multiple entities.
  • Oversee annual audit processes for reporting requirement for banks and bonding companies.
  • Organizing the departments resources to complete company objectives.
  • Assist the Accounting Manager with the interviewing and hiring new finance/accounting Team Members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in a related field, such as finance, marketing, or business. Graduate education preferred, i.e. Master of Business (MBA) or a Masters of Finance (MFA) degree.
  • 10 years of experience in a finance/accounting experience
  • 3+ years leading financial operations, such as benchmarking, accounting, audit and tax compliance and other regulatory matters.
  • Adept in fiscal management principals and processes, including resource management and needs assessment.
  • Partnership with Chief Finance officer to establish and track revenue.
  • Must possess the ability to organize, prioritize, strategize, and lead change
  • Must possess superior oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have a advanced working knowledge of MS Office, including strong skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook

Environmental Factors and Working Conditions

The work environment for this position is a mix of a typical office environment, warehouse and visits to construction project sites. Intermittent movement will be necessary to perform requirements of the position such as accessing centrally located office equipment. The physical demands may require the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and may be subject to frequent lifting of 60 lbs., bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing. Site visits may subject the individual to hazards commonly associated with construction sites. Examples of physical hazards include noise, proximity to moving vehicles, atmospheric conditions, close quarters, uneven surfaces, and elevated surfaces. The individual may also be subjected to outside environmental conditions (weather) where protection may not be available. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be worn as required on project sites and in the warehouse.
