We currently have an exciting opportunity as a Junior Cost Analyst. This role is based in our facility in Lynchburg, Virginia, and reports to the Senior Cost Analyst.

Job Summary

The Junior Cost Analyst is a key member of cost analysis team which has a scope of work of $75M of sales and 5 plants and distribution centers across the United States. The incumbent will report directly to the Senior Cost Analyst. The selected candidate will be a motivated, dynamic, team oriented, and determined individual. They will assist the Senior Cost Analyst with all plant level costs and controls including cost accounting, bill of material audits, cost analysis, and inventory valuation.

Principal Responsibilities

Cost analysis for 5 manufacturing plants.

Review Standard costs of products.

Prepare Manufacturing Expense reports and analysis of variances.

Produce Manufacturing Statements (statistical data).

Analyze monthly raw material counts & variances.

Recuperate raw materials for scrapped goods.

Prepare & analyze of COS/COP variances.

Add journal entries.

Analyze monthly production variances.

Contribute to the preparation of yearly manufacturing budget.

Open new manufacturing product codes.

Handle Approval for Expenditure (AFE) and payback.

Assist plant managers with any inquiries.

Take part of periodic visit and/or work sessions at the plants.

Collaborate to the year-end preparations.

Participate in annual physical inventory.

Maintain a safe and clean work environment while adhering to all safety policies and procedures.

Must be eager to learn, excited to work on a team, and have good written and verbal communication skills

Other duties as the need arises and/or assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

Completed bachelors degree or undergraduate studies in accounting or engineering

Experience in Cost Accounting within a manufacturing environment is desirable

Experience working with Engineering and Production personnel on development and analysis of cost standards is a plus

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software (such as Excel and Word)

Work Environment

Must be able to perform job responsibilities safely in a manufacturing environment.

Incumbent will work in an office setting but may be required to periodically walk around the facility.
