Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and serving as an integral member of the leadership team, he Vice President, People & Culture will be the chief advisor and strategist to the leadership team around all employee matters. Partner with AHRC Suffolk leadership to champion HR initiatives that drive employee engagement and satisfaction. Develop innovative strategies to address recruiting and retention challenges. Drives diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives as part of strengthening a culture in line with the agency core values. Create equitable programs and practices and ensure consistency in the implementation of policies and procedures throughout the organization

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP strongly preferred.
  • At least ten years of human resources management experience, with strategic, talent management, and/or business development experience highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR principles, practices and techniques of Human Resources Management, organization, and operation
  • Current working knowledge of principles and practices of employer-employee relations; applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations; functions and objectives of federal, state, and local agencies
  • Must be able to display a high level of discretion and understand the sensitive nature of confidential employee information with superior emotional intelligence.
  • Excellent employee customer service skills and spirit of team orientation.
  • Creates and maintains strong community relations in support of retention and recruitment.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Directs the operations and services of the Human Resources department, including recruitment, employee relations, compensation and benefits administration, performance management, employee policies and compliance, and HRIS data.
  • Develops and drives department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures; develop and interpret organization-wide policies.
  • Provides project management oversight which includes the ability to define scope, program, process, or project objectives, identify business needs, stakeholders and their interests, plan steps, and provide guidance related to coordination and allocation of human, technological and fiscal resources to meet objectives.
  • Reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures for improving organizational performance, organizational effectiveness, and productivity; identify and resolve problems and/or issues.
  • Builds understanding of employee needs beyond employee relations issues to inform and create relationships with internal departments to address training, technology, and other needs.
  • Initiates special projects and programs to improve employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Conducts cost analysis on HR-related proposals and negotiate terms on behalf of the organization.
  • Conducts risk analysis and supports training needs in the service of minimizing litigation exposure while managing instances with attorneys.
  • Manages department staff including the delegation of tasks and assignments, foster teamwork, collaboration, and innovation; and inspire excellent performance.
  • Serves as a mentor and develops direct reports by setting clear expectations and work standards.
  • Works closely with senior team members to promote effective communication, facilitate information sharing and collaborative problem-solving methods.
  • Assists in the development and management of data management tools and analytics and supporting a knowledge sharing system and working environment.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations as well as agency and program policies.

Salary Range: $110,000-$130,000
