Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable and skilled Commercial Truck Driver to join our team. As a Commercial Truck Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of goods to their destinations. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining commercial vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws, and delivering shipments in a professional and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Safe Operation: Safely drive commercial trucks while adhering to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies. Ensure the well-being of both the driver and cargo.
• Cargo Handling: Load and unload goods, ensuring that they are securely fastened and protected during transit. Perform routine checks to confirm that cargo is secure and in good condition.
• Route Planning: Plan and follow efficient routes to reach destinations on time. Use GPS systems and knowledge of local roads to avoid traffic and road closures.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks on the assigned vehicle. Report any mechanical issues promptly and perform basic maintenance tasks when needed.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of delivery schedules, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents or accidents. Ensure that all necessary documentation, such as bills of lading and delivery receipts, is completed accurately.
• Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients and receiving or delivering shipments. Address customer inquiries and concerns professionally and promptly.
• Safety Compliance: Comply with all safety regulations and protocols, including the safe handling of hazardous materials when applicable. Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
• Communication: Stay in regular contact with dispatchers to report progress, delays, and any issues that may arise during the journey.
• Equipment: Keep the truck's interior and exterior clean and presentable at all times. Ensure that the truck's equipment, such as lights, brakes, and tires, is in good working order.
• Emergencies: Respond to roadside emergencies and breakdowns, taking appropriate action to ensure the safety of yourself and others.

Qualifications:

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements (e.g., Class A, B, or C) for the type of vehicle to be operated.
• Clean driving record with no serious traffic violations or accidents in the past.
• Ability to handle and transport various types of cargo safely and securely.
• Knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations and safety standards.
• Good physical condition and stamina for long hours of driving.
• Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor when interacting with customers and colleagues.
• Familiarity with using GPS systems and electronic logging devices.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience as a commercial truck driver is preferred but not always required.

Working Conditions:

Commercial Truck Drivers are required to work variable hours, including long shifts, nights, weekends, and sometimes overnight stays. This role may involve exposure to various weather conditions and extended periods of sitting. Physical strength and stamina are essential for loading and unloading cargo.
