POSITION PURPOSE:

The Site Superintendents for USACE/ NAVFAC projects. Must be able to travel.

This position is responsible for preliminary estimating, planning, managing, and executing the construction activities of the company to meet the quality, cost and schedule goals. He or she will is responsible creating a three- to eight-week look ahead schedule of activities with labor and resources allocated.

The site superintendent will be highly organized, analytical, and meticulous with the ability to meet strict deadlines. The idea candidate is self-directed, results-oriented and able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, continually changing environment. They will work with the Project Manager in creating and updating work plans, project tracking reports, budget reports, safety reports, and quality control reports. The site superintendent will take pictures, and check for completeness and quality of the finished product for tracking of daily activities, be responsible for conducting daily reports for completed work and delays encountered, materials delivered, etc. The Site Superintendent will be responsible for subcontractor scheduling, production, and tracking. Works with the quality team to make sure that quality work is being performed.

Responsibilities include supporting the preparation of scope of work for subcontractors, project buyouts, change orders, understanding of project specifications, and construction methods. Also included are review of design for construction feasibility, inspection of work for quality and specification conformity, scheduling and taking and issuing clearances and change orders. The site superintendent will coordinate priorities and timely project completion with the Program Managers/Project Manager/Construction Manager.

Most importantly, he or she must be able to coordinate field operations for complex, fast tracked projects with a commitment to quality & safe construction processes.

Possess a working knowledge and understanding of logistics and scheduling.

Participates in the formulation of sub-scopes & subcontractor de-scopes.

Responsible for reporting cost codes and daily labor units.

Responsible for the daily reports and reporting of any job specific impacts that may occur regarding time delay, scheduling conflicts and or cost implications.

Manages & monitors construction activity to maintain compliance with contract specs and company quality and safety standards.

Works cooperatively and proactively to maintain labor union relations.

Monitors schedule.

Assigns work to field personnel.

Reports labor time and signs timesheets, if self-performing work.

Prepares, reviews and initials Daily Construction Reports.

Administers and Execute jobsite mobilization.

Participates in preconstruction meetings.

Reviews and verified weekly quantities.

Coordinates special inspections as required.

Ensures subcontractors follow Safety Procedures

Demonstrates full and current knowledge of all OSHA Safety requirements.

Communicates job status to Project Manager and other management team members on a regular basis.

Always represents company with professionalism, and a commitment to quality.

Must have a strong electrical background licensed or previously held a license in any state.

The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with business and technical managers at all levels of the organization. This position requires the ability to work with minimal oversight but willing to follow directions and adhere to corporate, project, safety and construction industry standards closely. Must be able to lead and direct subs to adhere to production schedule per the approved baseline or revised schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited four-year college or university (preferred)
  • Five (5) years of Construction Manager
  • Five (5) years Project Management
  • Current drivers license
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office products and other project software
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Understanding of mechanical terms and tools as well as physical and mechanical installation specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical underground construction activities
  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies
  • The ability to use hand tools, power tools and industry test equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, job specifications, project schedules, quality control requirements, etc.
  • Work schedule may require open availability including weekends, holidays and overnights determined by the needs of the business; must be flexible
  • Ability to work in the field for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment, post-offer background check and drug screening
