Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting an Industrial Safety Consultant in Richland, WA.

This position will support the United States Department of Energy (DOE), Richland Operations Office (RL), Assistant Manager for Safety and Environment (AMSE), Safety and Health Division (SHD) with industrial safety consultant support. It will provide technical support to RL-SHD in the review and evaluation of contractors planning and implementation of the worker safety and health programs on the Hanford site.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in evaluation of worker safety and health programs, plans and procedures and processes to ensure compliance with regulations and requirements.
  • Assist in ensuring worker safety and health program requirements are implemented at contractors sites.
  • Assist in the evaluation of contractor work activities to verify that work is being conducted safely and in accordance with approved worker safety and health programs and contractual requirements.
  • Assist in the evaluation of contractors planning and implementation of work safety and health program requirements.
  • Preparation of draft evaluation reports and presentations in the assessed areas.
  • Provide a weekly status report to the SHD Director or his designee and any other specific deliverables within the scope of this task as identified by the SHD Director.
  • Review documents and conduct assessments and surveillances of contractors worker safety and health program and field activities in accordance with DOE Procedure Management System templates and document all evaluation results in the RLs integrated Contractor Assurance System database.
  • Assist in evaluation and implementation of Hanford Site-wide Safety Standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in technical field of study.
  • 5 years of experience in industrial safety directly related to development, review or implementation of safety and health plans and implementing documents.
  • 5 years of experience in the DOE nuclear complex, preferred.
  • Ability to complete RadWorker, Hazard Waste Operation, Beryllium, and any other relevant training required for entries to facilities at the Hanford site.
  • Technical experience in planning, development and implementation of safety and health programs.
  • Must have an expert level of knowledge of the following requirements documents:
    • 10 CFR 850
    • 10 CFR 851
  • Must have an expert level of knowledge of the following standards:
    • 29 CFR 1904
    • 29 CFR 1910
    • 29 CFR 1926
  • Strong written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in dealing successfully with diverse operations and management at all levels.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.


LOCATION

Work shall be conducted at the Department of Energy government offices, The Hanford Site, and Richland, WA. This position is telework optional at the discretion of the Technical Monitor (TM) in consultation with the Contracting Officer (CO). AMSE support staff are expected to provide in-office support every day; however, situational telework may be available on a case-by-case basis as approved by the TM. If in-person support is identified as required for any reason and for any length of time by the TM or CO while in a telework status, the contractor shall report for duty in-person as requested.

Hourly pay rate

$67.00/hr to $71.00/hr.

The salary offered to the selected candidate will be based on business needs and the candidate's education, training, and/or relevant experience.

In accordance with the Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc (Navarro) salary determination process, Navarro takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities and the candidates education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. A candidate's salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
