GPD is looking to add an experienced Municipal Engineering Project Manager to our Akron/Garfield Heights, OH offices.This person will lead the efforts of a multidisciplinary team in completing projects while also working with the City staff and internal GPD technical team to advance the Citys Engineering priorities.

Role Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering registration in the State of Ohio.
  • 10+ years of experience in City projects such as roadway reconstructions, road programs, waterline, and sewer replacements, etc.
  • Extensive experience with MPOs such as AMATS and NOACA.
  • Well versed in ODOT LPA plan delivery, specifications, and contract management.
  • Experience in how to lead design of LPA Projects a plus.
  • Proficient understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D / Microstation Open Roads a plus.
  • High level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.
  • Strong background in identifying problems, evaluating options for resolution including risks associated with each, and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Experience mentoring and empowering engineers newer in their career.
  • Enjoys taking on a leadership role not only as a technical expert in our field but as a servant leader in the community and within the company.
  • Thrives in a collaborative project environment and enjoys all forms of communications while working with clients and team members (virtual, in-person, phone).
  • Enjoys developing and nurturing strong client and sub consultant relationships.
  • Experience developing and overseeing project scope, schedule, and fees for new projects and additional scope/services requested by clients that yield successful projects for clients and the Company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management in our Public Works group provides the opportunity to interact with multiple stakeholders and in a wide variety of services that encompass our discipline in the development of municipal projects:this includes the occasional attendance citys Planning Commission, City Council meetings as well as frequent coordination / communication with Mayors and Service Directors to understand our clients pains and develop strategies how the GPD team can address (link removed) addition, frequent internal coordination is required with construction inspectors/ construction coordinators, A & E designers, survey, environmental assessment, field services in order to further the development of our municipal projects.
  • Technical oversight:this includes the opportunity to develop capital budgets and road programs while also managing the design and quality review process and the data research compilation process, analyzing, and correlating scientific and engineering data to recognize discrepancies in results and identifying the possible solutions and risk associated with them.
  • Client Engagement and Management offers a chance for the Project Manager to develop and build programs and client relationships to grow this team:this includes understanding clients needs and how they translate into specific scope and reporting systems.This person could be attending city committee and city council meetings to address any updates/questions about public works initiatives
  • Mentoring and developing the Public Works team to further our success in the industry:this includes not only civil engineering and technical training but empowering those teammates to find their passion and skills in our industry and translating that to continued career success.
  • Administrative oversight:using Key Performance indicators, this includes developing, communicating, and tracking workflow tasks, scheduling, championing GPDs quality assurance and client standards, and ensuring that project documents are consistent with project plans and within scope and budget.
