The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Sr. Specialist, Employee Relations, to provide guidance, coaching, and functional expertise in employee relations matters of complexity. This role will assess, investigate, and resolve employee relations matters, ensuring alignment with company values and regulations, while also serving as a resource/expert for field human resources business partners regarding employee relations, investigations, company policies, and related initiatives. Lastly, this role will partner with human resources leadership, legal, functional business partners, and enterprise leaders to foster and maintain a productive, inclusive, and respectful work environment.

WHAT YOULL DO:

  • Conduct employee relations investigations, including preparation of supporting documentation and making recommendations.
  • Provide guidance and solutions regarding employee relations strategies and risks such as corrective action, adverse impact, employee engagement, conflict resolution, and investigatory techniques.
  • Engage in the development of employee relations processes and toolkits, including FCC EEO compliance initiatives, regulations, and reporting.
  • Engage in the development of initiatives for company handbook, compliance, and fraud risk committees to support desired culture, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Interpret metrics and use data to provide observations regarding employee relations trends.
  • Research and interpret benchmarking metrics and current market trends to support and make recommendations for employee relations strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Engage in HR trainings and the implementation of human resources initiatives or projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOULL NEED:

  • BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
  • Generally, 5+ years of experience in a related field preferred
  • PHR, SPHR or SHRM certification preferred

WHAT YOULL BRING:

  • Expert knowledge of employment and labor laws, regulations, in a multi-state organization
  • Experience in writing and implementation of HR policy
  • Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to influence, execute, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Willing to accommodate schedule to conduct investigations based on different time zones and business needs
  • Work in a work environment that is fast-paced, customer-focused, results-oriented and collaborative
  • Excellent Microsoft office experience
