As Greenbacker continues to raise capital and grow our portfolio of renewable energy projects, an opportunity has arisen to join the company. The role will report to a Corporate Accounting Senior. Since we are a small and evolving firm, the responsibilities will be broad, varied, and all encompassing. The role can be based in our Portland, Maine office, Montpellier, Vermont office, or New York, New York office.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Senior Accountant with month, quarter, and year end close procedures including compiling, preparing, and maintaining workpapers and documents supporting the trial balances of acquirers.
  • Review and understand various contracts related to the renewable energy projects.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure accounting procedures are compliant with U.S. GAAP and that internal controls are implemented and followed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve Greenbackers asset onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Perform and review periodic account reconciliations, variance analyses, and adjusting journal entries to track and support cost basis across Greenbackers renewable energy portfolio.
  • Participate in department projects, including developing and maintaining timelines and checklists for multiple projects to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Be active in the audit process of numerous Greenbacker subsidiaries to ensure audit requests are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Maintain organization and seize opportunities to improve efficiency and work quality in a constantly growing and changing landscape.
  • Perform other team, departmental, and organizational duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • CPA preferred; audit experience preferred
  • 1+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Experience in energy / utilities a plus (not required)
  • Experience with Oracle ERP Cloud or other accounting ERP software programs a plus
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel
  • Ability to thrive and manage change in a fast-growing company
  • Analytical and detail oriented
  • Proven ability to develop new ideas and creative solutions
  • Highly motivated, independent, results-oriented, and possessing a strong sense of ownership
