ROLE SUMMARY: The Director of Nursing (Day Services) with the support of the VP, Medical Services will provide nursing oversight to assigned program by assessing, planning, and directing nursing care and health-related services. They will train and support day programs staff as required by OPWDD and provide administrative support and clinical supervision to Registered Nurses across all Day Programs. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: - Knowledge of latest developments in health care strategies to support people with I/DD.
- Creates and implements health care initiatives at agency, program, and personal level.
- Provides leadership and direction to Day Program nursing department.
- Participates in orientation and training for newly hired staff, as needed.
- Ensures compliance with all AMAP policies and procedures.
- Provides assessment of medical/nursing needs for the people we support in program.
- Communicates with all Agency Nurses on all external health care activities including, but not limited to hospitalizations, discharges, surgeries, and urgent care.
- Assists in the development of new programs to improve delivery of services; including the identification of resources to address the clinical needs of all individuals.
- Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to Nursing; communicates and interprets policies and procedures to all Nursing staff.
- Ensures regulatory compliance through review of nursing reports and nursing documentation and timely corrective action plan for all medical audits and reviews.
- Participates or leads in agency committees, assures implementation of recommendations.
- Acts as a clinical resource in incident investigations as needed (requires the satisfactory completion of Training Program for Incident Investigators).
- Completes mandated reporting requirements.
- Collaborates with Assistant Director of Nursing Residential.
JOB TYPE: Full-time SHIFT: Monday - Friday Day Hours SALARY/HOURLY RATE: $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year (Exempt) This position is benefit eligible and has generous time off. Requirements ROLE REQUIREMENTS: - Minimum five years nursing experience with at least three years in a supervisory capacity.
- Valid New York State Registered Nurse's License. Bachelors degree in nursing preferred.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations (OPWDD, OMH, DOH, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
*All hires must possess a valid NYS Drivers License at the time of hire.
