JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Lead Person is responsible for coordinating, explaining activities to department personnel to ensure efficient operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Receive general instructions and communicate them to departmental personnel. Assign daily tasks, assignments and workflow.

Regularly perform tasks similar to those being performed by other departmental personnel. Must be familiar with all department Standard Operating Procedures.

Perform all related material handling duties. Operate power and hand trucks as required. Operate all tools while packaging. This is a working lead.

Prepare and maintain necessary records and reports.

Train and guide department personnel on correct procedures, policies and safety precautions. Check work of departmental personnel for accuracy and quality. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations.

Communicate with Supervisor regarding work status and potential problems. Work with Supervisor to resolve production, quality equipment and manpower problems.

Maintain a work area in a clean and orderly fashion and conform to all quality and safety procedures.

OCCASIONAL DUTIES: May be temporarily assigned to perform other tasks requiring comparable or lesser skill levels.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Generally requires knowledge of basic shop math, to include adding, subtracting, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions. Ability to read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram. Ability to read and translate measuring instruments and shop drawings. General knowledge of company policies and procedures. Ability to operate fork trucks. Must be computer literate. Must demonstrate the ability to exercise sound judgment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools or controls and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; stoop; crouch; bend and reach above shoulders.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, waist high, up to 10 feet away. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Shop environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes. Temperatures can vary from cool to warm depending upon the season.
