Network Engineer III - Job Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -
Team Collaboration: - Participate and occasionally lead in team meetings, team-building activities, and other opportunities to strengthen the department.
- Actively engage in inter and intra-departmental committees and groups.

Project Management: - Execute project-related tasks.
- Participate in the evaluation and estimation of routine work requests, ITS initiatives, or minor projects.

Education and Training: - Actively maintain education and cross-training on all departmental areas of expertise.
- Prepare, lead, and attend training when available and appropriate.

User Provisioning and Documentation: - Lead role-based user provisioning activities, processes, and standards for system-wide applications.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records in workload management, asset management, and administrative applications.
- Create, follow, and maintain documentation and checklists to ensure efficiency and consistency.

Leadership and Autonomy: - Function with a very high degree of autonomy and self-direction once assigned work.
- Act as backup for certain departmental leadership functions.

Customer Support: - Assist customers with understanding total cost of ownership issues related to hardware and software.

Mission Alignment: - Support and promote the mission and values of Covenant Health and the Catholic Health Ministry.
Job Knowledge and Skills: -
Communication and Interpersonal Skills: - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, professional business manner, and ability to interact with people of differing professional levels.

Network Technologies: - Proficient in the design, setup, and configuration of network router/switch and converged voice technologies.
- LAN protocols, including VLAN, STP, VPC, QoS, etc.
- Experience with IP addressing (IPv4 subnets and supernets).

Wireless Networking: - Proficient in the design, setup, and configuration of wireless networking using controller-based Cisco devices.

VoIP Phone Systems: - Proficient in the setup and support of VoIP phone systems.

Security: - Proficient in the configuration and setup of multi-vendor Firewalls and Security appliances.
- Experience with hardware and software VPNs.

Troubleshooting: - Proficient using network performance tools for monitoring performance and troubleshooting network problems and outages.
- Uses advanced troubleshooting methodologies to provide efficient, effective resolution and minimize impact to the customer.

Professionalism: - Communicates in a professional, positive, and timely manner in person, on the phone, and via electronic means.
- Represents the department and company in a positive and professional manner.

Complex Projects and Committees: - Participates in the evaluation and estimation of complex work requests and projects.
- Leads complex inter-and intra-departmental committees and groups.
- Represents the team on complex projects.

Process Improvement: - Works conscientiously to minimize cost and time requirements in all areas of departmental responsibility.
- Assists management in identifying significant opportunities for process improvement within and without the department.
Education & Experience: - Bachelor's Degree preferred, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to obtain CCNA (Routing and Switching) certification within 6 months.
- Ability to obtain CCNP and CCDA within 2 years.
