Metrologist Location: Downers Grove, IL, USA Duration: 8 Months Qualifications: - Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GDT).
- Familiarity with various gauges and measurement equipment.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Metrology and GDT.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
- Understanding of ISO 9001 & 14001 standards.
- Experience working in a new product introduction environment.
- Previous experience in supplier auditing.
Responsibilities: As a Metrologist at Molex, you will play a vital role in ensuring the precision and quality of our products. Your primary responsibilities will include: - Conducting First Article Inspections on new components and collaborating with our Engineering Team to provide valuable feedback.
- Conducting XRF testing to guarantee product compliance.
- Performing various mechanical tests to ensure our products meet the highest specifications.
- Creating accurate First Article Inspection Reports (FAI) with supporting evidence and working with design engineers to disposition them in a timely manner.
- Conducting in-coming and final inspections following established inspection plans using the SAP system.
- Organizing the filing of Certificates of Conformance (COCs) and other supplier documentation/records.
- Facilitating the development of measurement plans and methods.
- Taking ownership of necessary gauges and inspection fixtures.
- Applying sound Quality judgment when making and communicating decisions.
- Managing non-conforming product issues through blocking and holding, then leading the disposition of held material in a timely manner.
- Assisting in scheduling and performing calibration on various gauges and equipment.
- Supporting problem-solving efforts (8D's), analysis, and resolution of new product-related customer complaints or internal quality complaints during launch.
- Contributing to efforts aimed at preventing repeat issues and systemic improvements to the Product Development Processes, ultimately reducing New Product Quality Notifications (QNs).
- Supporting continuous improvement projects/plans to reduce scrap, improve throughput, and enhance our methods and systems.
